as someone who no longer owns consoles and has gone entirely to pc, the obvious answer is exclusives
you acknowledged that yourself and pretended that the consensus is that nintendo doesn't have to consider this issue, but obviously since ps4 is selling more that is not the case

I'm going to be honest, guys. I don't understand the plug and play argument. I can literally buy any game easier than I can on console. I find myself using PSN on PC since it's easier to buy from the site, and then turn the console on to log in. Games usually auto-configure graphical settings based on your hardware, so you're not spending a lot of time doing that either.

There's no hassle plugging in a PC to a tv either. I have 2 monitors and 4K HDTV. They're all connected to my PC, but obviously I can only connect the consoles to one. I purposely go for the highest end equipment because I'm doing more than gaming on my PC, but you don't have to spend 1000 dollars on a gaming PC either.

I mean, all you do is start the game. I wouldn't have time to tweak graphics settings and update drivers every time i wanted to play a game for the first time. I mean, I like my consoles, and I like to be able to play games at framerates beyond 90FPS. It would be nicer if I could play god of war with no slowdown, faster loading, higher frame rates, and higher resolution.

I think sony would benefit opening the games up to a wider audience, too.

I abandon PC gaming after getting geforce 1070 gpu (crap GPU)

Did you pair it with a Pentium D or something?

1070 gives the same performance as Xbox One X, the most powerful console to date.

I have a intel i5-4670k, don't overclock anything as it's energy-inefficient. Dude I had geforce 760 and could play 1900x1200 with no problems, than I got geforce 970 for 1440p it worked somewhat with tweaking graphics settings. I bought the 1070 card thinking this would be overkill for 1440p but already with the Watch dogs 2 release the card could not do 1440p and forced me to play with Checkerboard rendering with high settings, but even then I had frame-rate issues.

So around dec 2016 I was planning to buy intel i7-7700k but thought why I'm spending money on hardware when I can just get PS4 pro and never have to buy hardware again and it worked out great.

Pc-gaming probably better now as you have freesync/g-sync monitors, before this u had to get an average 70fps with v-sync enable to have a good gaming experience. Now 50-60 average fps should be enough with those new monitors.

6x master league achiever in starcraft2

Beaten Sigrun on God of war mode

Beaten DOOM ultra-nightmare with NO endless ammo-rune, 2x super shotgun and no decoys on ps4 pro.

1-0 against Grubby in Wc3 frozen throne ladder!!

I asked that about this gen and I'm sticking to it.

PC/portable is all I need and will ever need.

I LOVE ICELAND!

Look I love my Switch but....

I also want a PS5. I want not only games that are a good fit on Switch, but also the next step in gameplay standards that current co soles cannot produce. This is not just visuals, but also AI, physics, scale, etc.

Then in Sony's case, there are just as many people that value their exclusive games as there are those that value Nintendo. I for one, value both. There are plenty of reasons to upgrade, and keeping the current platforms closer together is not good enough to take those reasons away. Eventually there will be a Switch 2 and the gap will closed, but for now enjoy what you have. Good things are coming with next gen consoles, and there are also good things coming on Switch or current gen consoles. One does not have to take from the other, options are the key.

With Sony pathetically continuing down the path of censorship, the likelihood of me going PC next gen increases. What's happened with Devil May Cry 5 on PS4 is grotesque. I don't even own it. The very idea though. The only hangup will be selling my account, which I really don't know much about, or even if it's doable tbh.

Literally exclusives are the only reason. As much as I like the portability of the switch, if I could get games like BoTW, Smash, Persona 5 on PC and not have to wait 2 years I would have abandoned consoles ages ago.

Achievements, brand loyalty etc. mean nothing to me

If not for sony first party games, i would given up gaming for good.
The only other games i care about are from rockstar games and cd projekt red.
So yeah, dont care about switch or a pc.

Maybe I missed it, but it seems that nobody has mentioned the one, big giant strike against PC gaming. That's the high cost of entry. If one wants to stay within two or three steps of the current top-tier, it requires at least a few hundred dollars per year of hardware expense.

Consoles require a few hundred dollars once every five years or so. on PC, you need to buy an expensive rig to start with, then you need to upgrade it every couple of years, then buy another expensive rig several years later, and start the cycle over again. It is much more expensive than console gaming.

Even if one just wants to game at the same performance quality level as current consoles, it still costs significantly more in hardware to do it on PC.
