Capcom Says They Might Consider Porting Devil May Cry 5 to Switch if Dragon's Dogma Sells Well

This is a losing battle from the start Dragon's Dogma has been out for 7 years, and it's been on pretty much every major platform. They're pulling a Ubisoft with Watchdogs. "we'll support the Wii U only if this game, that doesn't have it's DLC and it's been out on every major console out there for a year now, sells really well."

It's called business, kids. Your feels don't come into it. Even Nintendo is a business, not your friend.

Every game is a test, if sales aren't good they have to change the strategy. Be it not putting that type of game on the system, or improving said game, etc. Just that most companies aren't open on it.

Mr Puggsly: "Hehe, I said good profit. You said big profit. Frankly, not losing money is what I meant by good. Don't get hung up on semantics"

Capcom's Next Test: Maybe consider Resident Evil 7 if Ducktales sells well.

I will be getting Dragon's Dogma because it looks really fun to me. Gives me Skyrim vibes. Plus it's 39.99 Canadian, so that is a darn good price for a new game (new to me). But holding a game from a different franchise and genre hostage makes zero sense.

You guys are getting upset over nothing.  DD is not a test and DMC5 is not being held hostage.

DMC5 coming to Switch is something that has already been decided. Its either feasible and worth the investment on a high selling console, or its not.

So they could have already decided it's not worth the investment and still decided to make this statement?

So either Capcom has already decided DMC5 is coming to the Switch, in which case they are bullshitting us with that statement to try and sell more copies of Dragon's Dogma, or they have decided already to not make it, in which case they are incredibly shady for giving us falses hopes and, once again, bullshitting us to try and sell more Dragon's Dogma. Either way, this is messed up.

Capcom didnt make any comment though, Itsuno did. And considering how long its taken for DMC5 to be made i am going to assume he doesn't make the call on what gets green lit, and what doesn't.

Maybe it is his hope that Capcom will change their mind (if they have already decided not to)

If what you are saying is true (it seems believable at least), people are getting upset over a shady tactics to sell a game to people who don't want it with a lie, as you say the sales of that game don't matter. That is not being upset over nothing.

i mean, being upset that a game will only get ported if another sells well, and being upset that someone is lying to you about said port is not quite the same thing though.

But yes, being upset about either is a fair reaction.

No point being upset about this because in the end if it does come whether it is day 1 or day 1000, they will put 10% of the game on a cart and expect you to download 90%

Resident Evil Revelations 1 & 2 sold well on the Switch and what do we get? Ports of even older RE games for a HIGHER price.

No thanks Capcom.

Capcom might consider to put 60% of the game on the card if the Resident Evil Collection sells well.

Legend11 correctly predicted that GTA IV (360+PS3) would outsell SSBB. I was wrong.

"When asked why Devil May Cry 5 isn’t on Switch, Itsuno explained that development started before the team had dev kits. Capcom therefore concentrated on releasing the game for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC. However, Itsuno added that if Dragon’s Dogma: Dark Arisen sells well, they might consider porting Devil May Cry 5 to Nintendo’s console."

Not this shit again. I thought we were past the whole 'test' period with Capcom. But apparently every game is another test.

theres no test here. they just want to make their money back on the DD port

So a multiplat release of a 2019 game is being held ransom behind sales of a port of a 2012 game (7 years ago).  Sounds legit.

The gamer side in me feels the pain, but the business side can try and understand Capcom's reasons.
