Wait, so a business cannot wait to see if another game sells first? Seems logical to me, if people were not interested in a prior product of mine, why would I sell them another?

Because there is a huge difference between a person with a Switch not buying a port of Dragons Dogma for 50e or whatever they ask for it when you could literally buy an Xbox360 and the game for less and play it that way....

€32 and you would have the console and the game.

To claim that poor sales of that would suggest that people on the Switch wouldn't be willing to shell out for a brand new game would be like Ford saying they're not releasing a new version of the Focus this cycle because customers of theirs aren't willing to buy a 1998 Gen 1 Ford Focus for €13k

Oh I see, quite right.

Ok sounds fair. Buy this completely different game so you can get this completely different game.

Like at least tell me that with a DMC collection Capcom.

What if I like DMC but not DD?

So they want me to buy a game I have no interest that is a completely genre to help they decide to port the game I do want?  You, and they, are expecting to me to pay twice for the game.

Not this shit again. I thought we were past the whole 'test' period with Capcom. But apparently every game is another test.

No kidding.  Is this just a marketing strategy at this point?  Releasing old ports and threatening to cut us off if we don't buy them?

We know Capcom's made a buttload of cash off of the Switch with hardly any effort on their part.  If they want to cut themselves off from a console that is selling freakish amounts of software, then that's their business.

Well Capcom, release DMC5 on Switch and i'll buy Dragon's Dogma. I need a "test" of your commitment to the Switch at this point

"When asked why Devil May Cry 5 isn’t on Switch, Itsuno explained that development started before the team had dev kits. Capcom therefore concentrated on releasing the game for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC. However, Itsuno added that if Dragon’s Dogma: Dark Arisen sells well, they might consider porting Devil May Cry 5 to Nintendo’s console."

theres no test here. they just want to make their money back on the DD port

I wouldn't be surprised if this is Capcoms way of marketing there switch games since the last 4 times they've said this whole "better sell well" thing, there games sold great. They've more than likely have made there mines up on a port of Devil May Cry by now.

There several issue with this argument. First is that this is a port of a very old game that has been on 360/ps3/pc and later Ps4/XBone for years now. Basing a new release port in a totally different franchise based on how something that is most likely a 2nd or third buy for more people makes very little sense.

Another issue is that they have pulled this game of wait and see several times. Clearly sales turned out great for those if we are getting more ports.

If they are porting DD over, I think its clear they already know it will make a profit and find a market. There's a reason why they choose this random game.

Finally, DD and Devil May Cry are arguably going to be bought by different audiences and really doesn't show how a Devil May cry port would sell

In conclusion, this is just normal Capcom BS. This just a PR stunt from them to get people to buy DD in hopes for a port that has already been decided.

They've been doing this for years now.  Their first test case back then was just Street Fighter II with a new coat of paint... and it sold beyond their wildest expectations.  No one faulted them back then, but it's become habitual now for them to release an old port and tease a new port if we'll just buy this other game first.

Capcom always makes Switch owners port beg.

This is almost certainly a marketing strategy at this point. And it probably works on casual none gaming forum audience. But this more alienates the smaller gaming forum crowd who can see through this. Tbh, I was in between on getting DD, this just makes me not want it anymore. Capcom has likely made up there mind on a Switch port by now. Either it runs and it'll get ported or it doesn't and they are just pawning with us to boost the sales of DD.

Does not matter the game, all Switch games sell well at my store. Capcom knows this by now, not sure what the actual issue is.
