Another iOS prop up....

When will it end?

This is by far the worst trend in videogame history. It baffles me that this trash is still so powerful after more than ten years.

I think the marriage of salty snacks and sugary drinks with video games is the worst thing to happen in video game history.

I don't think that's what's going on, for two reasons.
I looked around in the options menu, and I don't see anything there to let you use any controller.
And the way this seems to work is that the app itself acts as a Dualshock by logging into your profile. That's why when you try to log into it again using the Dualshock, the app disconnects from the PS4 the same way a Dualshock would if another logs into the same profile.

I'm not an engineer on their development team, but I'm pretty sure it doesn't have to work this way (that the app emulates a Dualshock) in order for the content of your game to be streamed to the app.
So perhaps they'll add that option if people request it.

Oh dear God, I wouldn't be able to enjoy a game with all those buttons covering and obscuring the screen especially with a small phone screen as it is.  I say this as someone who has little interest in mobile (phone) gaming regardless of platform holder/developer.  It's just not for me.

You could always buy an iPega Controller.  They are as cheap as $20.

So the PS4 has finally reached Wii U status...

Definitely android is next (hopefully android tv too).

whether you see this negatively or not, its obviously a first step towards PS Now rolling out to devices other than PS4 and PC.

It's already on Sony android devices, and PS Now was on other devices than PS4 and PC but they stopped support to other versions

Is this 2014 all over again ?

It is accessible for every Xperia Z and XZ smartphones and tablets for years

Well just like in 2014, most people don't have an Xperia.

It doesn't change the fact that it isn't new, it is already on dozen of devices.

It is new......to iOS devices, how are you not grasping this concept? Being available on Xperia devices since 2014 has literally zero relevance to that.

They already did that with Samsung TVs ... (it didn't end well for the most part since they had to shut down the service)

There are two interpretations for cloud gaming IMO ...

1. A future of dense farms of dedicated gaming hardware which specialize in game streaming as a service ...

2. A future where your own personal devices are capable of streaming which enhances ownership of the said device ...

It is seemingly likely that both paths will persist because #1 incentives immediate cost and because #2 incentives ownership of the system. If this is how Sony intends to re-enter the portable market, then so be it. It'll become interesting to see some statistics in the next couple of years to see how it adds value to the PS4 around the whole world and especially in Japan where portable gaming is all the rage and to see whether or not Sony was able to break the stalemate over there ... (I can see why iOS would be the priority in this instance because of the platforms popularity)

Salty snacks should only ever be consumed with beer and only to aid in increasing thirst for more beer.

5 GB down for VITA

10 GB up for PS4

This is what it is for the VITA, so I imagine phone is no different.  I was able to do it off of my wifi hotspot on 4G for my VITA end, but the performance was sketchy.  That clocked at about 5 GB down when I did a speed test.

When you say "GB" are you referring to "Mbps"?

So wifi range similar to vita ?
