I'm sure I'm not the only one who's found themselves playing a game that was just so good, you honestly hated to see it come to an end. I'm definitely not talking about multi-player or going back to "clean up" missions you never fully completed (artificially creating a replay value) - I'm talking about any game that has a dedicated single-player campaign that when finished, you're actually depressed that it's come to an end...

I'm currently playing Rise of the Tomb Raider at the moment (yeah, I know it's an older game - but the backlog of games I have sitting on my shelf that I have not yet played, is staggering!!!) and I find myself dreading that I know the end is eventually going to come. I'm so thoroughly enjoying this game, I wish it would never end!!!!

I felt this same exact way about Zelda: OoT and The Last of Us (just to name a couple of others) - I loved those games so much, I was bummed for weeks afterwards, knowing that they were over.

Tell me some games that you've had this same experience with - as I mentioned, I have a shit-ton of PS3, PS4, and Switch games that I have yet to even break the seal on, so hearing about games that you guys have enjoyed as much as I've enjoyed these particular games, will help me narrow down which game(s) I will be looking to play next...

OoT I was a kid and the fact it ended was devastating.

I really enjoyed Rise of the Tomb raider. Kick on quickly to Shadow. It's not *quite* as good but its right up there and pretty much more of the same.

When Mass Effect 3 ended I didn't know what to do with myself for like a week.

Currently, it’s Dragon Quest XI. I’m absolutely addicted to it. I’m about done with Act 1 and I don’t want this game to end. It’s going to be my first DQ I finish too.

If you guys love rpgs, I highly recommend it. It starts off sorta slow but once you get a good few hours into it, it really gets addicting.

Agreed. I bought the game at midnight on release day to show my support for a franchise that desperately needs more love in the Americas. I have been slowly drip-feeding this game to myself (and my wife plays too and is at the same part of the game) as I never want it to end. We are nearing the end of the game now, but once the Switch version comes around I'll probably be ready for another go.

As far as JRPGs go, DQXI has an amazing "economy" (can't think of a better word), such that you will never have enough gold to buy everything you want. I oftentimes find that many games shower you with gold/gil, which hinders that aspect of the game. Character progression in general is very solid.

DQ games just make me feel really good to play.

That's awesome, me and my fiancé are both playing it too. She’s a bit ahead of me now though cause I’m taking more time to grind and looking for liquid metal slimes. :)

FFVIII. The game ends and I am like... "hang on, no post game?!"

Hellblade and BotW

You shouldn't have too much trouble tracking it down. I was surprised to see how a lot of stores have seemed to keep it in stock.

Uncharted 4: It was pretty much the perfect end to the series, but makes to sit back and go "Crap, that's the end of Nathan Drake's story!"

Mass Effect 3: 3 games worth of content featuring some fantastically written characters that you could genuinely want to hang out with.

Any Civilization game... because... just one more turn!
