If you're into 2D Platformers, it's one of my all-time favorites. Masterclass from start to finish. A very well done difficulty curve and absolutely rewarding.

It also has a low-key, but pretty pleasant story. If you like it, even better, if you don't, it doesn't take away from the god-tier platforming.

Wow - hadn't realized it was that good of a game!!! I guess I'm gonna gave to make that duplicate purchase, after all...  :(

It's one of the highlights of 2018 for me. I put 25 hours into it and I still have stuff to do (half-way through the B-sides).

Ni no kuni series and Witcher 3 for me

I actually have both of these games sitting on my shelf right now - in particular, Ni no Kuni: WotWW had gotten my attention a long time. Is this the Ni no Kuni you're talking about? Or, the series as a whole? I had totally forgotten about this game, and am wondering if this should be my next play...?

I meant Ni no kuni wrath of the white witch and ni no kuni 2.

'Wrath of the white witch' is one of the best JRPG's of all time and i would definitely recommend it

In no particular order

Mass Effect 3
Telltale Walking Dead Season 1
Bioshock Infinite
Persona 5
Persona 4 Golden

I believe this is the third or fourth post now, mentioning the Persona series, so this is definitely going to require some investigation on my part!!!

I'll ask you the same questions I asked before about this: Would you say Persona 5 (or, Persona 4) is the best in the series? Would somebody new to the series be able to jump right into the 5th (or 4th) installment? Or, would they be better served by starting from the beginning?

5 was my first and it is my favorite, but as someone mentioned a few posts ago, it is definitely based on your preferred soundtrack/game more than anything else.  They are standalone stories, long games, and just really well put together products.  I have 3 and plan to play that one soon too.

Hated to see Metal Gear Solid V end midgame :p

Still enjoyed it a lot.

In regards to persona they are individual stories the only connection with past games is they are in the same universe, take persona 4 for example on the school trip you get to visit the  city and school were persona 3 occurred , as to what order it depends on the consoles you have,  do you have a vita if so Play P4 golden or Persona 5 on PS4.

Research shows Video games  help make you smarter, so why am I an idiot

TMS#FE. I was able to unlock the last character and get eberybody the skills I want them to have...... then the final boss came........ And what makes it worse is that a sequel is probably close to 0% of it happening.

Pocky Lover Boy!

Tales of Symphonia, Shin Megami Tensei Devil Survivor 2: Record Breaker, and Xenoblade Chronicles 2

I was going to write something seperate about all of them, but I realized my reason for enjoying these games is the same. Really compelling stories with likeable characters wrapped in a really fun gameplay style that just kept me coming back for more. All of them were really meaty games, taking over 100 hours on my first playthrough (combined playthrough for DS2, since the remake added a new arc), and all of them I remember feeling actually bummed out when I finished up since I wouldn't be able to experience these amazing games for the first time ever again. When you get that feeling...you know the game did a great job.

And the very best example is...
The O.G. Legend of Zelda -  I remember the first time I beat this game, I realized that I had just played perfection in gaming form.  It simply had fantastic exploration and combat and most of all freedom.  I realized that the game truely was worthy of the golden box and cartridge.  After I beat Ganon and went to save the princess I felt both a sense of great satisfaction and great sadness.  I had just played the most perfect game ever made and now it was over.  As the credits rolled, I wished that it wasn't over, that somehow I could keep playing this amazing game.  And then a very magical thing happened....

My wish came true!  They gave me a whole another second quest with the same magnitude as the first.  In fact, the second quest seemed bigger, because it definitely took me longer to beat it than the original, lol.  It's the one game where I wished it wouldn't end and it actually didn't.  It didn't rely on just replayability or post-game content.  It gave me a whole another quest just like the first one.  That is one of the many reasons why I consider the O.G. Zelda, the greatest game of all time!

Hold up. The original Legend of Zelda has an entire second campaign???? I've never heard this talked about in reviews and such. That's pretty cool! Was it just a master mode, or an actual new quest?

It was actually a new quest.  The overworld map was the same however everything else was different.  The dungeons were different and they were in different locations.  All of the items were in new places and all of the secrets were put in new places too.  There was also at least one game mechanic that was not in the original quest either.  It was an entirely new quest.

Super Mario Odyssey. It was so much fun, but when I got to the end, like Alexander the Great I wept because there were no more worlds to conquer. It's not a short game, but it's so action-packed that it feels shorter than it is. I cannot say the same for most other games released these days, which often feel like they overstay their welcome.

Also, when I was only a 12-year-old kid, when I beat Final Fantasy IV for the first time, I was actually kind of sad to see my adventure come to an end. It was the first game I played where the characters felt like real individuals with their own personalities and goals. The credits rolled, and for the next 17 years until The After Years was released I wondered what happened to the characters after their hard-fought victory over the forces of evil.

I agree that Final Fantasy IV was mind blowing.  I already really loved the first Final Fantasy, but I was not prepared for this elaborate story and fleshed out characters that I encountered in "Final Fantasy II", heh.  The second game felt light years beyond the first.  Little did I know that this was actually the fourth iteration of the series and that is partly why it had progressed so much.
