Then came 2018. Horrible, torturous 2018, where Wolfenstein II was the only title all year worth buying and my Switch spent 11.5 months of the year collecting dust. From such lofty heights, the fall was agonizing, and I felt like I was back in the Wii U days again. I started to wonder if I'd been fooled by a stacked first year into buying another disappointing console.

Strange, for me was 2018 better than 2017. But I am not restricted to big first party titles. Civilization VI, Okami, Katamari Damacy, Dragon Quest Builders, Octopath Traveler, Monster Hunter Generations, Armello and Ys VIII are among my most beloved games, so 2018 was actually excellent and better than 2017, which had with BOTW surely one of the best titles ever but not the big amount of good titles.

I'm not restricted to big first party titles either; I bought Doom in 2017 and Wolfenstein II last year, and this year I plan to get Claybook, Trine 3 + 4, Hellblade, and Team Sonic Racing. It's more that minus Wolf 2 every 2018 release for the Switch had some form of dealbreaker that made it a no-go for me. There just wasn't anything that really appealed to me.

Around the Network

I can't keep up with the amount of games being released for it. I'm rapidly heading towards 100 games bought for the system. This year looks to be the best yet, yoshi, astral chain, dq builders/11, Mario maker 2, Tetris 99, Pokemon gen 8, mk 11, ctr, animal crossing, luigi's mansion 3, daemon x machina, plus loads more. I've never had a dry spell with this console pretty much every week has at least one new title big or small that I want.

It's been an amazing 2 year so far with my Switch. The ability to play games on the go or on the TV without the extra costs of two consoles or need for internet (outside of online play) is pretty darn cool. I own a lot of games on Switch, most of which I have yet to play. Even though 2018 was somewhat dry for some, I liked being able to play ongoing games like ARMS and Splatoon 2. Hell 2018 was when I was (and still am to this day) going through Xenoblade 2, one of my favorite games of all-time. Now with 2019, there appears to be a lot of games to look forward to for any type of gamer. Sure, there is still some work to do in regards to improving some features on the Switch, but if you'd ask me, the Nintendo Switch is an incredible console. Nintendo made a winner after a really rough time with the Wii U and the 3DS (to an extent).
