If there was ever a close second however...Monolith Soft. Really love what they have been doing lately.

EPD/EAD, and it's not even close. Mario, Zelda, Animal Crossing, I don't need to say more.

God Tier: Nintendo EPD, Monolithsoft - especially when they co-develop games like Breath of the Wild.
Good Tier: 1-Up Studios, Grezzo - They usually remake and co-develop games, they typically do a great job: 1-up is the successor to the Earthbound team.
Junk Tier: NDCube, Nintendo Software Technology, Retro Studio - I can live without these studios.

Yeah, like you wont buy their next game day 1...

I would go with EPD. Retro is also up there.

EPD.

1. EPD has the longest record of quality and consistency and they make games in a wide variety of genres.

2. Monolith Soft has made some excellent RPGs (I have poured many hours into many of their games), but they haven't had the same range of games as EPD. However, given the size of their team, their output imo is might impressive.

3. Retro makes excellent quality games but we have seen a total of 4 games so far made under their direction, in addition their overall output is kind of low for me to consider them the best right now.

The above are their top 3 studios IMO.

Also, I am not sure why Grezzo is listed since they are technically not a first-party studio.

It's a secret ballot.

Can you list out what game each of them made?

Pocky Lover Boy!

Including EPD is a mistake as they are obviously the best and by far the biggest.

Mario 2D and 3D , Zelda, Mario Kart, Animal Crossing, Splatoon, they are far ahead of any developper in the world.

As a Nintendo studio, you should have included HAL, Intelligent system, Alpha dream and others to make the things more interesting.

My pick , excluding EPD, and including the others woul be Monolith Soft. I loved all three Xenoblade games, and I really look forward to their next game.

It's just kinda the truth at this point.  We just passed five years since their last game and it's not looking like they're releasing anything this year either.  We're not even sure if they're working on anything other than just getting started on Metroid Prime 4.  A baby born when Tropical Freeze came out will be well into elementary school by the time their next game comes out.

It might seem cheap to say, but it's tough to get around.

Monolith has released  Xeno X, Xeno 2, Xeno 2 Torna since TF release and I believe they are likely to release their next game before Metroid 4 at thins point.

Retro Studios has literally released only a couple of over-hyped/rated 2D platformers since Metroid Prime Corruption, which came out WAAAAAY back around the Wii launch. On the Switch, there's a significant number of indie platformers, some with 16 bit, even 8-bit, graphics that totally demolish them. The indie devs also don't have the benefit/pretension of a full scale retail release and a license from a beloved Rare trilogy to bloat the significance of their releases either.

What is Retro Studios anyway? Who are their talent? What makes them so much better than the studio who launched Xenoblade Chronicles 2, Torna, laid the foundation for Breath of the Wild, and co-developed it? Or the main studio behind BotW, as well as Splatoon 2, Mario Odyssey, and Arms. How is "After over half a decade of nothing, we just started work on Metroid Prime" better than this?

From what I gather it's a building with a revolving door turn-over rate, and barely a handful of people leftover from their last game almost a decade ago. How some consider this to be Nintendo's best developer baffles me.
