Forums - Gaming Discussion - THQ Nordic Went to 8Chan -_-

Snowflakes are upset huh? That usually means something good happened. I'll make sure to support THQ from here on out.

I'm sorry what?

I guess you must be a regular at 8chan.

TIL someone out there still uses "snowflakes" non-ironically.

Hm I kinda doubt that stupidity is the only reason for this PR disaster. One does not simply stumble across a random website and does a AMA on it without some basic research. I would guess someone at THQ Nordic who was involved in the whole process knew exactly what 8chan is.

Especially considering that 8chan isn't even accessible through google.

That's the hilarious thing: How can supporters go along with the narrative as if THQ was an old man who got lost in an alleyway, when you can't even access the site through normal means?

Seems pretty obvious that either one of the higher ups like 8chan, or they expected this and wanted to be edgy and cause controversy to spread their name.

I once got called "snowflake" on reddit.  Hilariously enough, he was the one complaining about a videogame character in a moderately revealing outfit being "porn."  Since then, "snowflake" has been really high on my list of "things to mock people for bandwagoning."  It's not quite up there with "thinking LOL is a form of punctuation" but it's rising.

huh, what happened to 5chan, 6chan, and 7chan?

Absorbed by 4Chan and 8Chan in the womb

This entire circumstance and how things played out amuses me. You know there was someone at THQ who frequents 8chan, pitched it to the bosses, who don't know the difference between Reddit and other forums and such, and then the magic happened.

As for the internet moral grandstanding, THQ apologized, as they should, nobody was physically hurt, we've had some laughs, and now there's an obvious example as to why Google de-listed them (which I do oppose on principle).

As for the the positive vs. negative PR debate, I actually looked up and learned far more about THQ Nordic after this than I would have so take that anecdote for what it is.

Seems funny to me that they did it and those people who are morally offended and crying about this.... lets be honest their vocal minority were probably not the ones who would be buying the sort of titles THQ Nordic puts out anyways, the ones who laugh at jokes involving death.... might play the THQN game which features him as a main character though. So they're just appealing to their audience and I would wager their sales increase after this move rather than decrease.
