Really doubt that Switch will get a successor so soon. Why would Nintendo kill the Switch so soon at the height of it's success, that just makes no sense.

No sens ? It would just make the 8th generation 9 years for Nintendo (2012-2021), which is really fine.

I count the Wii U and Switch as separate Gens (I count Wii U as 7.5 Gen, a bit like I count One X and Pro as 8.5. The Switch I consider 8.5 too, as I count only the 3DS as 7.5 Gen) since they are fundamentally different. Different mediums, different hardware base, different everything in fact. Wii U has so much more in common with the Wii than the Switch.

In other words, for me, the current Gen for Nintendo has only started in 2017. But I consider the whole notion of Console generations as flawed since the 90's (where would you fit the 32X? The 3DO? Philips CDi? NEC SuperGraphX? They all belong in between Gen 4 and 5 and in neither of those two)

Looking at the third stages SuMo seemed to go for each character being a certain archetype, Grass = Robin hood style rogue, Fire = Pure braun wrestler, Water = Maiden but that's just my take as it's certainly a bit more open for interpretation.

Yeah I just checked Gen 5 had a theme with famous historic Eastern figures like Scholars, Warriors etc...

God. Seeing all those together really puts into perspective (imo) how bad the designs were for Chesnaught and Delphox. Yikes.

It really puts into perspective how far the fire type designs have fallen. Really the only bad ones of the bunch are the last three gen fire types.

How I'm envisioning the direct will actually go:

Starting three minutes are all just "Pokemon history!"
The next three are dedicated to talking about a spin-off that has yet to be announced (Mystery Dungeon? Go update? probably the latter..)
Thirty seconds of "Thanks for playing!"
Ten second logo reveal
Outro.

Going in with low expectations, I don't think we're actually getting anything of note.

Just got a e-mail from Pokemon Go. It says 27th February is the Pokemon day because the first game was released on that day. Didn't know that :)

Hype! I hope we see at least a few new pokemon.

I also hope they stop using human archetypes for the starters, it really only workes for me with fighting types and my god we already have enough fighting type starters (yes Incineroar, you too)

They like the announcement?

Pocky Lover Boy!

1 hour left, we'll find out if Town is any indication of what they're aiming for.

Honestly, I've got higher hopes for Town than gen 8, based on the way the 3DS Games and Let's Go went. Hopefully they can blow us away though

Its almost upon us guys!

Lets see if this Pokemon convinces me to try the franchise again, uran!

My (locked) thread about how difficulty should be a decision for the developers, not the gamers.

I'm really not into Pokémon but it'll be interesting to see if they've made any significant changes now that they have different hardware to work on.
