Amazon has posted a placeholder product published by Bethesda Softworks for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC. The product is available in standardDeluxe, and Collector’s editions.

The following Fallout countdown video is attached to the listing:

As for what this is, we could not say for sure. However, with Fallout 76 having launched in November 2018, a brand-new Fallout title is unlikely. That said, a remastered Fallout 3 or Fallout: New Vegas is much more likely.

Seems like this could be the Fallout 3 Remaster that was rumored last year possibly. Last year Bethesda shutdown a fan remake of Fallout 3 inside the Fallout 4 engine, which was unusual because Bethesda had previously allowed fan remakes of Oblivion and Morrowind inside the Skyrim engine. That decision prompted many to believe that Bethesda had plans to remaster or remake Fallout 3 themselves, and many assumed it would be announced last June, but that announce turned out to be Fallout 76 instead.

It'd be great if it was both of them, but i'd be most interested in a 3 remaster.

Fallout 77! Now with actual NPCs!

No, but really, it's probably a remaster of Fallout 3. Unless they have pulled a New Vegas and left another studio to develop a completely new game, they haven't had the time to make something else, considering how busy they must've been with fixing Fallout 76 and making Starfield and TES6. Though the lack of a Switch version makes me doubt that, they would not pass the chance to port it to the Switch after Skyrim and Doom performed above expectations, wouldn't they?

You know it deserves the GOTY.

Rumor is that it might be a full on remake of 3 built on the Creation engine, if that is the case then Switch wouldn't be powerful enough to handle it. Maybe they will toss a simple port of the old 360 version onto Switch alongside it though, with a few improvements to take advantage of Switch's extra power compared to 360.

Fallout 3 remaster most likely. If it plays more like 4 and 76, that's a pass for me. Both disappointed. Now if it's just a graphical and performance touch up...

I don't know if this is a good idea right now, after Fallout has been dragged through the mud with Fallout 76.

I really hope it's at least a remaster for Fallout 3.  It needs it more than New Vegas.

If it plays more like Fallout 4 then I'll buy it without a shred of doubt.  Mechanically, Fallout 4 is a far, far better game than Fallout 3 or New Vegas, with way better combat and a much improved interface.  I recently tried to replay Fallout 3 and just couldn't do it, it's too dated in too many ways, from the graphics to the enemy AI.  I did replay NV and lost my nostalgia goggles a bit, as it didn't hold up quite as well as I'd imagined.

It would also be awesome if they added in more content, as both F3 and NV suffer in comparison to F4 in terms of things to do.  So much empty space in those games, whereas the spacing in Fallout 4 is the best I've ever seen for an open world game.

Some type of settlement system, even if it's only limited to a few locations, would be wonderful.  I just hope that mod porting is easy.

A remaster of the game that made Fallout mainstream is probably a good start to getting the series back on track though.

Agreed. This is the best thing they can do for the series at this point imo. Fallout 5 won't release until the mid 2020's at the earliest, since Bethesda still has to finish Starfield and Elder Scrolls 6 before they can make Fallout 5. The last thing they want is for Fallout 76 to be the freshest Fallout memory that Fallout fans have for the next 7 years or so.  Remastering/remaking Fallout 3 is a good way to remind the fans that, yes, Bethesda can make a good Fallout game.
