Well, PS4 is obliterating Switch in Europe, while Switch a bit better in NA.  Switch is slighty above in the Global only thanks to Japan

You could also say that PS4 is even close to Switch only thanks to Europe.

Ya I never understand that comment, I've seen it many times where someone mentions how Switch is only ahead or close to PS4 because of Japan without acknowledging that Europe is the only place where PS4 is dominant.

If these numbers are accurate, then MS may be wise to go ahead and announce the next Xbox this year and maybe plan for a spring 2020 launch

I dunno, if they go too early they risk Playstation getting the jump on them by being able to pull the "just wait 9 more months for our superior system" card.

About XBTwo, announcing it this year could be fine, but releasing it before Q4 2020 could be too early.

Agreed, they cannot afford to jump the gun and have a botched launch. After Xbox One they need to think carefully and get this one right.

My only point is that Japan almost gave up on powerful Home consoles, and Switch can obliterate his competitors there without new games. It's basicly a portable; NA and Europe did not give up on portable, while Japan don't care about powerful Home consoles with great new games.   This is the point, it is not silly at all, and it is ignored on purpose by most.

This is just discussing our opinions, no need to get so defensive and offended by friendly discussions on forums.  I see so often really silly comments, but I refrain from saying it, if I'm not sure why it was said, and in any case I woudn't say.

Of course Japan is part of the equation like any other territory, but they almost gave up on Home consoles while the rest of the planet still do care about any good hardware with great new games, regardless if they are Home consoles or portable, showing to be much more open minded and much less nationalist.

We are comparing apples with oranges. We are comparing a relatively young portable from Nintendo to very old Home consoles, with a PS4 still at $299 after 5 years and 3 months.   Japan affects the Global in a massive way, not because it is a territory like any other and this happens by chance, but because they basicly only buy portable from Nintendo. This is not a silly point, and it is ignored by most.   Switch is a portable hardware which belongs to a hybrid generation, and its sales are heavily influenced by a Country that has no more interest in Home consoles, even if great new games are available, like famous J-RPG franchise and games they like a lot and appeal to their taste and videogames culture; there's basicly no impact noteworthy or legs; this is my way of seeing things, my vision, no reasons to get so defensive or touched, it's just a forum where we discuss(not referring to you in particular).   Peace.

Agree. If Japan isn't the one helping NSW this week, at least overall last year it was the case. Without Japan, NSW would have had a hard time to compete with the old wolf PS4. It absolutely makes sense. Europe is also generous territory to Sony, but that's another point that doesn't change the fact that Nintendo needs Japan e focus a lot on Japan, its their main business.

God bless You.

My Total Sales prediction for PS4 by the end of 2021: 110m+

When PS4 will hit 100m consoles sold: Before Christmas 2019
