This is actually a lot worse than I ever imagined, I figured a mid 70's score would send the internet reeling but this is a complete disaster. It's hard to believe that this studio has made two out of my favorite games of all time (BG 1 and 2).

Most likely the most talented developers must have left Bioware some time ago.

No doubt, but Bioware as a studio will always be held to the immense standard of their past hits. For me, they were a part of the golden age of PC gaming in the 90's. I was especially disappointed by Mass Effect 2, when it became apparent that they were taking a turn towards more shallow core gameplay and action before depth and roleplay, for me that was the turning point where I started seeing a worrying tendency to follow trends and standards rather than set them. And it was evident that this turn became much more sharp under the rule of EA.

End of 2016 hardware sales:

Wii U: 15 million. PS4: 54 million. One: 30 million. 3DS: 64.8 million. PSVita: 15.2 million.

Between the scuffed release schedule, poor reviews and fantastic competition, this seems like a complete disaster.

Anthem seems to be one of those games that where the developers focused too much on bling and not enough on gameplay, some games that have done this in the past have managed to turn a profit.

I feel like this GaaS type stuff is just a way of releasing half cooked games.

Edit: Does anyone know if Anthem started out as a always online looter/shooter or was it something tacked on later?

People loves to shit on EA and excuse the devs all the time, biowares devs wanted to try something different too, they had no experience and failed miserably, theis game is in the workds for 6 fucking years, its not like they didnt had time to make this. There is something wrong with Bioware , all the best devs jumped ship long ago.

Wtching andry joe review and i am here thinking what kind of idiots work at bioware now, who makes these stupid decisions?

As soon as i saw the first trailer i knew they would fuck this up. My only hope is that they finish dragon age story before EA closes the studio.

the thing is that they failed at elements that are very present in normal RPGs, which is supposed to be their forte

loot, mission design, "lively" world, story, endgame activities

the gameplay mechanics are even praised by quite a few of the reviewers

I wonder if Division 2 might completely murder this game

there is no need for murder. anthem already committed suicide.

It takes genuine talent to see greatness in yourself despite your absence of genuine talent.

you cant even see the stats of your javelin, loot is useless and the stats of the loot make no sense. this is on them, maibe EA rushed it but they had 6 years and all they did was this mediocre shit.

I just saw the angry joe review. Its grind to get good gear is insane. Its basically battlefront issue again. One of the guys said that after 70 hours of playtime he still short to be able to get a masterwork gun.

That guy either doesn't understand how the game works or is straight slinging bullshit.  I have 42 hours in the game and am only missing one masterwork piece (which isn't in the game yet) and am working on getting legendary items now.

It is a shame that this is the game that falls on the sword for this style of game because I am really enjoying it.  I think the 60 is a super low score, but based solely on the pre-release prior to the day 1 patch I can see where it is justified.  Hopefully, like with Destiny, the reviewers come back and give an update on this game with the new content that comes out.  The roadmap for it looks promising... provided of course they don't shutter production on it like they did ME:A.

Well EA do make a habit of direct interference it's quite telling that Apex the game EA had no involvement with in any way ends up as the far more superior game and achieves the goal of competing blow for blow with the likes of Fortnite which EA hoped Anthem the game they were heavily behind and involved in would do. Developers should get some flack yes but EA's handling of studios in the past 30 years has left an impression I'd be very worried if I was a member of Respawn right now because if Bioware don't get back on track with the upcoming Dragon Age EA will turn their attentions to them to carry the torch for what ever the company agenda is at the time regardless of whether it falls in line with what the studio is used to doing.
