I was maybe 13 or 14 when the 1st kingdom Hearts came out. I was actually quite excited for it, I loved Japanese RPGs and had some Disney films I loved as a kid. I had forgetton why, but I only played the game 8 hours or so before I set it down never to play again.

Now, in 2019 as a father of a 8, 6 and 1 year old I decided to give KH3 a go. No doubt my 6 and 8 year old enjoy watching me play (or play themselves since 92% of combat is mashing the X button) and that makes it worth the purchase to me. Being able to play a game with my little girls intently watching everything that happens. BUT. I finally reminded me of why I never bother to finish the original on PS2. 

I fooking hate Goofy and Donald. They both are very annoying to listen to, and in their original cartoons were the comic relief. Definitely not the material to lead a high fantasy game. I set down KH1 when I realized I was stuck with them as young teenager(I truly had forgotten why I drop it until playing KH3). I though it would be essentially Mario RPG but with Final Fantasy themes and Disney characters thrown in, it could have been cool. I pictured acquiring party members from Disney movies and being able to swap them in and out based on what I felt. But no. It is fooking Donald and Goofy. I am personally quite let down that they still insist on them being the key Disney characters in the game and playing KH3 has let this sink in more.

Yeah... noo. They are still there mostly for the laughs and "friendship, but I've also (and a lot of others I'm guessing) grown to think of them as an integral part. They do help a lot.

Come on man, that doesn't make sense. Donald and Goofy are iconic Disney characters. IT'S KINGDOM HEARTS! You can't just drop them like that! Why, that would be like dropping all the Final Fantasy characters from the ga-

I really like them, I think they have great chemistry with Sora and other Disney characters, and add a lot of charm to the games. The numbered titles wouldn't be the same without them.

Also, if it wasn't for them we wouldn't have iconic Goofy dies scene from KH2 :p

If anything I find the "love in your heart" sentimental crap more awkward than Donald and Goofy.

Haven't played the games yet but that sounds like a no. And don't talk shit about Donald Duck, he is awesome

Sounds like this just isn't the game for you.

I personally loved them as characters. Seeing Goofy jump up and down after a coliseum win had me laughing every time.

But that's the point of the series. You had to buy into the Final Fantasy meets Disney thing, but a lot of people couldn't take it seriously. I don't know why, because Final Fantasy is cornier than Disney, imho, and I love both franchises.  

Well, based on the secret ending, it seems they may not be in the game but who knows.

Edit: Or maybe they'll be in it, they just won't be apart of your party. I can't deny Donald and Goofy were useless in battles plus as usual I found them annoying throughout the story.

If they drop something from the game I hope they drop the gummy ship sections and the whole Nobody side of things.
