we expected it to be mediocre, not this bad... When's the last AAA Microsoft exclusive... too long to remember.

But this is the poo I wanted, not another story driven game where I walk around for hours hearing dialogue.

Hence, I think there is room in the market for a game like Crackdown 3 even if the critics don't like it and I'll play other games the critics like as well.

Lol was just reading this and then saw your comment

We only wish the two in-game announcers had been as quiet, but unfortunately, particularly in the opening hours, they just will not shut up. This is despite the game’s premise being almost instantly understandable to anyone who’s ever played an open world game before, particularly one using the Ubisoft formula. But then the game’s storytelling tone is odd throughout. The premise and dialogue is straight out of a bad kid’s cartoon, except when it’s suddenly not and you can sense the voiceover actors wincing in embarrassment as they’re forced to pepper the script with wholly inappropriate f-bombs.

I was looking for how the multiplayer wrecking zone turned out, never mind.

For fun this is from 2015

Sad... was really excited about this one when it was announced... but hardly surprising given its development struggles. I’ll get it when it’s like 10 bucks I guess...

That would be a pretty bleak outlook if true. However, I don't think they would have purchased six new studios (some of which were quite noteworthy) if they were content with the quality of their first party output.

But of the six new studios, weren't four of them already making exclusive Xbox games like Forza, State of Decay, and Gears? It's not like Microsoft was ever in jeopardy of not having Forza and Gears so I don't think it's all that big. Ninja Theory can be solid but the others? Ehhh... maybe it works out for them. And with them killing Lionhead, truly one of their best studios ever as far as 1st party game content goes, I'm just not sure they're on the right path yet.

Wait what????  All the Fable games are highly overrated and they progressively got worse so no Lionheard was never one of their best studios.

Forza Horizon 4 wasn't released that long ago and it will get new content for a long time to come, you must have have a very short memory span.

Going by the vids I have seen, not surprised. The promise for Cloud computing in multiplayer definitely wasn't kept, either.

On a personal note, this is really why I wouldn't be interested in switching to Xbox next gen, even with all of the recent acquisitions MS made recently. They have some good talent, but it doesn't seem like the management is up to par with Sony and Nintendo on overseeing quality output. Promising games are cancelled, while the ones that have released recently have been underwhelming. It seems the only thing they have going for them, that seems to be consistent high quality, going into next gen is their Forza releases.

To be fair, the current Microsoft management was dealt a terrible hand this gen.  The previous management had shuttered most of the studios or driven off all the talent from the studios leaving them as shells of their former selves.

I think the current management has done an ok job (not great) at limiting the damage that was done.  I do think they are setting themselves up pretty well for the next gen... but time will tell.  Xbox certainly seemed to take a step back from the 360 years this gen... but it looks like they may be poised for another step forward...

Forza is a really small audience, the game sells like 1 millionish each year doesnt it? Everyone expects it to get 9/10 every year, it's no surprise I have personally never played it and dont think i will enjoy it.

Any way, 1 AAA game compared to Sony and Nintendo? That's not even competition, it is massacre.

On the Graphics effects front it's actually pretty paired back compared to other AAA games of today, you can clearly see the limitations in geometric complexity which was an issue I pointed out a few years back.
..But it also has that clinically clean artistic design like Mirrors Edge, which means that visually the art really stands out... And should hold up over the longer term.

Sadly the pop-in really stood out for me.

I think it deserves a 70 anyway, but won't be surprised if it ends up significantly lower.

It's not a bad game per-say, but it could have been a bit more of a step up... Especially with the bold promises about it earlier in it's development cycle and it's several delays.

I never really considered Crackdown AAA. Not this gen or last gen. However, it actually looks better than I expected. Makes better use of UE4 than most games as well.

I just wanted another Crackdown and some good Gamepass content, I think they delivered. This game is as important to Xbox as Last Guardian was to PS4. Its notable content at best, it was never teh kill3r @pp.

The AAA game MS has for this year is Gears 5. Hopefully there isnt a delay.

Eh except Sony actually delivered on TLG unlike MS with C3. Big difference.

Regarding G5 at this stage they might as well just delay it and make it a cross gen launch title to try and push the next xbox. They need all the help they can get competing with the ps5.

It sells way more then that it surpassed 5 million players a while back already.  None of Nintendo's first party games really appeal to me and Sony's first party games really aren't that great either plus I like achievements better then trophies.

So, since the topic of what this game promised ages ago, as far as what cloud computing would add to the multiplayer equation ( and without getting into all the individual instances of what was at the very least hyperbolic marketing speak ) has been brought up in this thread, I thought I'd post this video of what was shown as pre-alpha in game footage in 2015 vs the reality of the 2019 release for those who haven't seen it and may be interested. It's absolutely one of the biggest downgrades in gaming history.
