Do we know which of those years were 5 weeks for Jan too?. Jan 2019 for PS4 is indeed really good for such and old console without price cuts. And i don't think it's just thanks to KH3 and RE2 because both came way too late in the month. Is just that PS4 the evergreen of consoles.

2017 started very slow too in USA and it was the best selling year worldwide for PS4 in the end. That's why Jan numbers are no very useful to reach conclusions. But I won't be surprised if Feb-March-April (those 3 months combined, i mean) are better for PS4 in 2019 than in 2018.

As for Switch, Nintendo console always have a very good January, so this time is no exception.

XBO this year is just awful....I remember discussing with CGI about XBO not reaching 50M before next XB comes, and now i'm very positve it won't. If XBO is selling so bad in USA, in the rest of the world is technically dead.

Switch had the best January of any console since 2011.

Great Switch performance.

That is insanely impressive on the Nintendo end. Also are you doing the yearly comparisons again?

Jan is 5 weeks every 5th year so just 2018.

PS4 is very unlikely to be up in Feb-April. Feb/March will probably be close to last year with Anthem+DMC5+Division 2+Sekiro+Far Cry: New Dawn but PS4 smashed the April NPD record thanks to God of War. I would be very surprised if PS4 is ahead of last year in those 3 months.

Nintendo does not always have a strong January, 3DS best January was ~160k and Wii U best was 62k.

Thank you very much!. So 2018 only then.

I used the cheap "i won't be surprised" because i'm not betting it will happen but it's a possibility, and just being a possibility it's something amazing to happen in a 6th year console like PS4. April like you said, thanks to GOW will be impossible, but i really think Feb and March are going to be up for PS4 this year (not very much, but at least, marginally better). There's lot of games coming in those months.

As for Nintendo, i meant, relatively to the success of their console. WiiU was a disaster, but i must admit i am surprised about that 3DS number....

Looking more and more likely that 2019 will be the year Switch outsells the Xbox One in total sales.

MS is kinda stuck to be honest, there's not much they can do now except wait it out til next year then hit the reset button and release an all-new next gen Xbox that doesn't repeat the mistakes of the Bone.
