I'm focusing on the games that interest me, so personally it wasn't enthralling. Unravel, Box Boy and that Disney game don't interest me. Was hoping for Pokemon, which we know is coming, but as someone pointed out that was always going to be unlikely here. I'm not into Mario Maker or Fire Emblem so the 2 big announcements weren't going to capture my attention.
My main issue is the 3 games that did catch my eye (Assassins Creed 3, Grid and Links Awakening) are all either ports or remasters. Currently this is true of the other 2 games I'm keeping an eye on (Crash Team Racing and Spyro). This is why I need Pokemon Gen 8 (and before a Gen 4 remake).

Don't think any Pokemon game recently has been announced in a general Direct. Pokemon usually gets announced before E3, which is odd, but is what they like to do. Probably best to wait until May until we start anticipating for Pokemon reveal

True, but that didn't stop me from hoping.

Not going to rate it, but just point out what games I'm interested in and/or getting.

1. Fire Emblem Three Houses: Was going to get regardless, intriguing with the whole Harry Potter feeling
2. Dragon Quest 11: Was not sure what was going to do, but now am going to get it. Looks like an amazing huge old school style RPG that I love
3. Astral Chain: Looks cool but not sure if will get or not. Bayonetta style action games aren't my cup of tea, so we will see. Looks super interesting though
4. Link Awakening: Will get for sure. What to say, it's Zelda
5. Oninaki: Looks interesting and good, but feel like I heard the prior two games Lost Sphere and I am Setsuna got mixed reviews for being short and missed potential
6. Marvel: I loved that marvel game when younger, so might purchase it to play with friends when over sometimes. Like I did for Diablo 3
7. FF9, FF7, & Chocobo: Might pick up 9 at some point when have the time to delve into a huge RPG and not backlogged. No chocobo or FF7. Don't like FF7, boring, emo and overated
8. Bloodstained: Looks cool. Might be a spontaneous buy someday on the eshop when browsing.
9. Runefactory 5: I'll keep eye out. I like stardew valley and gravekeeper. Is Runefactory the good one? What harvest moon used to be?
10. Unravel two: might be spontaneous buy as well. Remember when this was shown at like Microsofts conference last e3 thinking I wish it was coming to switch.

If there was nothing of interest to you in this direct you probably need a new hobby.

I qualified that one as an Indie titles, hence why I didn't add it into the list. But yeah, April has a full set of games, just May is a bit empty - but the time in between Goldenweek and E3 is always comparatively bare imo.

I think Box Boy is Nintendo published game, also it seems that Super Smash Bros. Ultimate 3.0 Update will be in April also (Joker will be launched before end of April), rumored Labo Kit 5 could be easily be April or May release and Starlink update is also April. Last year in May we had DKTF and Hyrule Warriors, so yeah, May look a bit empty, for now.

Technically it doesn't mean that we can't get further announcement for other titles in the period of April-May, but I'll admit that having no presence of Nintendo in that period might hurt them a bit ... until the EXPLOSION of summer that is !!

Anywoo, Box-Boy is an IP made by HAL so it was quite evident Nintendo would be the publisher, it's no Indie but a "small" release yeah.

Edit : Captain Toad Special Episode is in March ... there's that, I guess. (It's 6 bucks for the DLC)

0/10 Direct they made the game industry worse!!

Anyway my expactations were higher because it took so long to get a direct so I expected atleast 2 Wow moments

With Zelda/Super Mario Maker 2 they basically already made it a worthy direct.
But FE looks great but probably to complicated for me
Tetris, Astral Chain and more also were great suprises.

I give this a direct a 9/10 and it was fun to watch it with the easy allies https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7LhQoSI1GvA&t=3468s

March is OK, April is very strong in any case, but May looking a bit empty for now (but that could be easily changed):

-March: Yoshi's Crafted World, Final Fantasy VII, Chocobo’s Mystery Dungeon Every Buddy!, Unravel two, Captain Toad update
-April: Mortal Kombat 11, Final Fantasy X/X-2 HD, Final Fantasy XII, Dragon's Dogma: Dark Arisen, Darksiders Warmastered Edition, Super Dragon Ball Heroes: World Mission, Super Smash Bros. Ultimate 3.0 Update, Box Boy + Box Girl, Starlink update
-May: Team Sonic Racing, Assassin's Creed III Remastered, Atelier Lulua: The Scion of Arland

It is unfortunate May is likely the month that will be rough with not as many interesting games coming to the Switch. However, if that meant more games coming this Summer and Fall (as shown in yesterday's Direct), then I think Nintendo will take that. Reggie even stated that, in the Americas, Nintendo makes about 60% of their revenue during the holidays.

https://www.gamesindustry.biz/articles/2018-11-27-reggie-fils-aime-nintendo-us-makes-60-percent-of-revenue-during-the-holidays

So with everything we have seen so far for 2019, it will be a very interesting year for Nintendo Switch. If Summer and Fall are up YoY, the holidays for this year could be even better with Pokemon Gen 8 leading the way along with Animal Crossing and, likely, The Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening remake. And we still have not likely seen all of Nintendo's plans for 2019 as E3 gets closer.

8/10 for me. Decent if not totally mind blowing line up. Links Awakening’ll probably be my most anticipated game (from this direct anyway) despite being a remake (I badly need me some retro style Zelda and only played about a 3rd of the original). The platinum game will be one I’ll watch for (rarely met a platinum game I didn’t like). I’ll get Mario maker 2 but probably to check out levels rather than design my own. Yoshi’s a given for me but not exactly a surprise...demo left me wanting more.Bloodstained I cant wait for (again not really a surprise or exclusive but nice to see it mentioned). Daemon x machina looks potentially interesting (had a bit of a go of the demo...not enough to Form an opinion. Played it late at night)...not bummed about the absence of Luigi’s Mansion or animal crossing. We know they’re coming near the end of the year so no reason to elaborate for now. Dragon quest xi looks pretty good but not sure it’s my bag....and Tetris 99 woohoo.

6/10. Meh

8/10

- Mario Maker 2 looks awesome.
- Fire Emblem and Dragon Quest 11 are instabuys from me but they were before the direct.
- I don't like the artstyle of Link's Awakening remake at first (it would be a 9 otherwise...).
- Platinum new game trailer was amazing but I need to know more.
- Rune Factory 4 remaster is ugly but the existence of Rune Factory 5 is great news.
- Damn, I don't want to buy Captain Toad again...
- Yoshi looks like Yoshi.
- And some other games I might pick up like Bloodstained, Oninaki...

Very solid.
