Will we ever get another 98+ game on Metacritic?

Breath of the wild deserved.

Yes I think some day a game will reach 98 again.
Since some mentioned clickbait reviews, I could argue the opposite, back in the days many games got good reviews because of "graphics" or "it's as good as the previous game in the series", I look at you CoD!
In the end I don't care if a game reaches a score of 98 again or not. Alone the fact that GTA 4 was the last one shows how meaningless the score is.

Gunplay was fun, fast travel is a decision design so that you camp a lot and fell like outlaw travelling and care for your horse and they have succeed at it

The Game Have a lot of amazing things that makes you ignore it's negative, also This Game from what i have seen it's not for everyone, you need to play it slow to get the experience

The gunplay is completely brainless, probably the worst thing in the game, it's astonishing that a triple A release can get away with it in 2018. I like to do that sometimes but I also want to get to where I need to go at a decent pace. Which also brings up the point that moving around the world isn't particularly enjoyable either, with the crappy horse controls.

The game has a lot of fantastic things in it but they do not overcome the massive flaws with the game. I can see this game being re evaluated a lot in the future, it's already begun.

horse control is The best in The industry, anyway i respect your opinion

Lol they also list a pint on Wii because people say the gfx not as good as PS3, or because you had to use motion controls lol.

The obvious answer is Hitman 3.

This, of course.

Seriously, Its ridiculous how underrated Hitman 2 is. It deserves a 90+ metacritic in my book, one of the best games of the year.

Bet with Intrinsic:

The Switch will outsell 3DS (based on VGchartz numbers), according to me, while Intrinsic thinks the opposite will hold true. One month avatar control for the loser's avatar.

Yeah we will

bold of you to assume that will release

that's true😉

It will piss on 98  and go straight to 100, I can see your brains ticking over how exactly this will occur, simple by the time it comes out just about every critic will have died from old age, so Square will bet on the last surviving critic's old age and dementia confusing him enough to gain that score, the only way that may backfire is the critic giving 100 to a game he calls George.

Now there is one other scenario and that involves Jim Stirling being as many have suspected part cockroach so in that case the 100 will consist of the score of 20 being multiplied by five episodes.

The last game that got a 98/100 on Metacritic was Grand Theft Auto IV in 2008. Since then, we got Mario Galaxy 2, GTA V, three Uncharted games, Batman: Arkham City, MGS V, Breath of the Wild, Red Dead Redemption 2, and many others, but none of them managed to reach more than a 97/100.

I feel that with the growing amount of critics, the growing desire for clicks from these critics and the technological advances slowing down, no other game will ever reach 98+ on Metacritic, no matter how good it is. I don't even know if that's a bad thing either.

What do you think?

It is highly unlikely we will get a 98/100 anytime soon for all the reasons you listed. But because this an absolutist question, I have to say yes we will. I don't know when or from whom, but at some point in the future course of gaming history we will. Unless there is a world wide economic collapse or the world ends of course.

Wpuldn't be shocked if it happened at some point, like with Super Mario Odyssey 2

I am honestly just suprised we saw three 97s this year. I am gonna vote no, but three 97s in a one year time span prove that anything is possible.
