Too taxing on the CPU.

PC GAMING: BEST GAMES. WORST CONTROLS

A mouse & keyboard are made for sending email and typing internet badassery. Not for playing video games!!!

Aside from achievements, would this let you play compatible games online through XBL instead of Nintendo's Online service? Because that would be very interesting.

This is probably what Nintendo meant when they teased a new online component for core gamers? I see what MS gets out of this, but how does this benefit Nintendo?

After everything I've seen Nadella do, this isn't surprising. His strategy is to essentially be a part of the competition so that they can't be dethroned, because they will be the industry and not just part of it.

It was Britain, it is America, tomorrow France and next year, the world...

Warning: This poster has a very negative opinion of Sony and Nintendo, Idea Factory and companies Tecmo Koei, EA, BioWare, Blizzard, Treyarch, Infinity Ward, Kadokawa and Sega. If you have very positive views of these and a negative view of Microsoft or Bethesda Game Studios, AVOID ENGAGEMENT AT ALL COSTS!

It takes time to rebuild, and Spencer has been doing a great job in the time he has had. XBO X was a great boost to Xbox's image. Game Pass for Xbox One after the announcement of 1st party games Day One has turned a lot of heads. Bring Game Pass to PC was the next step. Forza Horizon 4 has set the example for what Microsoft Studio's will deliver going forward. You will have Gears, Forza, and Halo on everything from 1080p on xCloud to 8K on Windows. While the new studios begin to go head to head with Sony and Nintendo delivering even more industry leading 1st party exclsuives.

People are taking notice. When I talk to people in the real world, the tide has definitely started to shift. People that made the move from 360 to PS4, are asking about next, gen and talking about going back to Microsoft.

I guess time will tell, but right now, between the New Studios, Backward Compatibility, Game Pass, Play Anywhere, and XBL for All, Microsoft looks in very good shape to take back a huge chunk of the market in the transition to next gen.

Sure... it may take some time. But just how long? It's been five years since this guy took over. All I've seen is promises of next year being huge for Xbox! Year after year after year. And what's been delivered since then? Sea of Thieves? Backward compatibility, Game Pass, Play Anywhere, etc. is all well and good, but it just screams of desperation and half-hearted attempts at winning over consumers. Is it so hard to make games? Those features bring nothing new. The purchasing of new studios may possibly be a step in the right direction, but Microsoft hasn't had the best history with this sort of thing. Time will tell.

Seems like Microsoft might slowly be phasing out serious, competitive gaming hardware. With the poor and increasingly low sales of the Xbox One family of consoles, it would make a lot of sense and be a good way of saving face to just release some kind of streaming box with a few exclusives to sweeten the pot, with no real intention of competing with PlayStation or Nintendo. Offer some of the non-gaming amenities Microsoft seems to like to push along with it and you have an Xbox that's carved out its own corner and doesn't have to worry about competing with the big boys.

Did the 3DS have a better CPU than the Switch does?

Agree 100%.  I have little confidence in Spencer, especially when it comes to managing studios and game development, or at least finding competent people to do so.  They aren't pumping out a ton of exclusives right now, yet Sea of Thieves and (seemingly) Crackdown 3, were allowed to be developed with such low standards.  Phantom Dust was supposed to be a full remake, but instead was knocked down to a simple remaster.  Scalebound was cancelled due to MS's meddling with develop, wanting more added to the game than originally agreed upon, without further funding.  We all know about the mismanagement of Rare.  I'm just failing to see any signs of great oversight.  And adding a bunch of new studios to that environment, but still having the same people in charge doesn't bode well in my opinion.

allowing people to play on any platform they choose is what will push Microsoft over Sony and Nintendo.

Microsoft is on point with bringing XBL services to other platforms. With Cloud Saves, Achievements, and Friends Lists across every device you own, Microsoft will have the best value of anyone in the industry bar non.

I really hope Nintendo is open to this

Either fight, or join. Same goes for Sony. I like competition, but to have competition companies have to fight. I don't want to see Sony and Nintendo roll over and die like they did with Portables.

The above are all your quotes.

The first two point out the reasons why Nintendo should never allow this to happen on the Switch.

The third one says you really hope Nintendo is on board

Then you completely contradict yourself by saying you want competition and want to see Nintendo and Sony fight.

Ahhh..i see. They are showing their true colors and trying to circumvent the competition if they cannot squarely beat them. They are using the windows method of trying to monopolize the os/online method. It’s pure revenue and notoriety for them because of their competitors incompetence.

this is exactly why Sony has had Microsoft at an arms length for years. They knew this day would come.

    My eyes....

Listen, they are levels below Sony or Ninny, or other serious publishers. The Spencer talking is blablabla just like Netflix we will mantain healthy businnes model in 2027.

No, the xCloud will not work 1080p on an Android phones, because streaming + wireless connection, I got 150 MB, it switches from 140+ to just 0.01 MB, not even say a word about multiplayer, not even single one. And Android phones are Spencer's main target now, he said it himself.

Head to head with Sony or N, not in 2020s. Industry leading - not even once, they just want to make theirs League of Legends/Fortnite. Thats why they bought Minecraft.
