Honestly all the other thread seem to focus on hardware and did they didn't they blah blah. I feel we need talk about the software as well:

This is the best selling 3D Mario game by a million, it will continue to sell and will easily add more millions:

Super Mario Odyssey

13.76 million pcs.

 

and this is the best selling Zelda game, by far.

 

The Legend of Zelda:
Breath of the Wild

11.68 million pcs.

add Smash selling 12 million in one month, and Pokemon Go selling 10 million. We should discuss this achievement.

Mario Kart 8 Deluxe is also just over 3 million away from passing Mario Kart 7, 15.02 million vs 18.11 million, it will easily pass it by the end of the year.

That is a good tidbit, I did not know it was that close.

At this point, MK8:DX is essentially giving Nintendo EPD a free development spot to try and create another new IP.

Also when adding Wii U version, it's at 23.44 million meaning it only needs to sell another 160k to pass Mario Kart DS as the 2nd best selling entry at 23.60 million.

NS is going to have a top 10 of 10m plus sellers been saying this for a while only the Wii and DS have managed such a feat but NS' software sales will lead to the same outcome, PLG hit 10m despite what people were saying about it plus LT I can see it hitting around 15m and Splatoon 2 at some point this year will hit 10m. Smash Ultimate need to move 3m more to become the top selling installment (S4 has 14.8m units combined) which it will do I think Ultimate could close in on 20m LT, Mario Party could become a 10m seller itself as well with 5m plus moved already.

Upcoming AC and Pokemon Gen 8 will be 10m sellers easily with Gen 8 having to potential to be a 20-25m title with how software is performing on the Switch other potential huge titles are Luigi's Mansion 3 and in future Tomodachi. Switch is the best chance for Metroid to show it can break out of it's niche appeal.

Or stow away a Mario Kart 9 for Switch's successor at launch. I would like a new IP but I'd like it to be sustainable and have staying power. I'm looking at you ARMS...
