The public reaction has been positive so far, even if they don't really know  the source material. Check IMDB.com for people ratings when it will be out.

Yup, there seems to be another disconnect between critic and audience reception so far judging by the early reviews. Chris Stuckmann, Jeremy Jahns and several other YouTubers said they liked it as well.

I'm not familiar with the source material, but I plan on seeing it. This'll be the last film under Fox as a standalone studio, so why not?

Yikes. I forgot that Dis-nee bought them out too. What could go wrong though?......*Cough*

I just watched it. Loved the action sequences but didn't enjoy the story too much. I found it to be a little bit cheesy and had problems with the pacing of it.

But overall I found it to be a good movie. I would give it a solid 7.

Just saw it. Was very entertained. I do hate when characters in movies shout "NO"" - so yeah, those made me crinch a bit. But cool movie - visual marvel and great action scenes.

F*** movie critics.

For sure. They shit on so many good movies, and then like movies that are absolute trash like Star Wars episode 8

True dat.

Just got back from seeing it and wow! Honestly it's already one of my favorite movies of all time.

For those complaining about the big eyes being off putting. It's not! It's hardly noticeable after the first few minutes, and it's part of the reason this movie works. Along with the heart and soul, Alita is one of the most emotionally fragile and human characters ever put on screen. I often found myself agreeing with her point of view at all times. This movie would have not worked with any other actress asides from Rosa Salazar who absolutely killed it in her performance. She can make some pretty crazy anime faces in real life too. Both Christoph Waltz and Ali Mahershala were also high points. The whole cast was quite phenomenal.

The action is some of the best I've ever seen. Completely blowing all my expectations. Not much can be said without spoiling the movie so I'm just going to avoid doing that. Everyone whose skeptical should give this film a solid chance. The majority of the theater stayed after the credits to see the if there was anything after the film. Which sadly there wasn't. It's clear the audience love this film and want more!

People complaining about the critics. Here's one of the most positive, and honest things I read about the film and while it's simply a master piece. I still can't believe the film is 3.5 Petabytes in data size and her eyes alone are 8.5 million polygons per eye. Just a few fun facts that can be read in the link.

Given how often Phoenix has been pushed back, I could see it being shelved (which is rumored to be what happened with New Mutants as well. *sigh* oh well, at least we got a cool cover of Cry Little Sister by Manson...)

Saw this movie last night, I loved it, I thought it was really a great movie and again visually it was awesome, this has to be the clearest 3D movie I’ve ever seen. I very much enjoyed the story, I think Alita looked amazing too.

Critics are retarded now, I’ve really noticed in the last couple years they are rating stuff very pourly and I see it anyway and end up really liking it.

Not really interested in the film. So far it seems like those who have watched the film like it, so there is that.

Unfortunately, I don't know if this film is going to make much profit, if any at all. They went crazy on this film, spending $170M on the budget alone. Probably could have shaved quite a bit off of that just having the actress be in the film, instead of insisting on her being CG.  Anyway, add in marketing and the theater's cut, this film is probably going to have to make ~$500M to break even. It looks like it is going to make ~$40M after its first five days at the DBO. Not a very good haul. The FBO, mostly China, is going to have to do some serious lifting.

You are unfortunately correct, domestically this movie doesn’t look to be posting very good numbers. Maybe good word of mouth may make it have decent legs, I guess we’ll see.

I am sure the major numbers will be overseas, China/Japan etc like you said. It’s a shame that a movie like this may not even do half of aquaman lol
