Sony's been pretty quiet on their 2019 plans.  They cancelled PSX at the end of 2018, then announced that they wouldn't be in attendance at this year's E3, but will Sony sit idle on the sidelines?  I highly doubt it.

I'm guessing that they are going to hold an official press conference in the near future to announce PS5 - but when?  Do they get a jump start on Microsoft and Nintendo ahead of E3, or do they wait until after E3 to see what hands the other two play?  My money is on the former.

At that press conference - I'm expecting them to show off the power of the PS5 - showcasing first party games running on the new system.  Some of those games - like The Last of Us: Part II and Ghost of Tsushima - will be cross-gen releases with PS4.  The PS5 will also be backwards compatible to the PS4 library. They will show a teaser trailer for a Horizon: Zero Dawn sequel -as well as other 3rd party surprises. (Bloodborne 2, Final Fantasy VII Remake update).  PSVR will see a 2.0 revision as well. They will announce that the PS5 will launch in the Spring of 2020 - but will not announce a price at that time with more info to come at PSX 2019.

Sony will then make a permanent price cut to the PS4 to $249 - making it more competitive with the Switch throughout the year.

I think The Last of Us: Part II will come out in the fall to both critical and commercial acclaim.  Sony will then bundle it at that sweet $199 price point from Black Friday through Christmas- helping the PS4 to have its best holiday period to date.

I have no idea about PS5 annoucement; it might happen in 2019 if it will be released first in Japan in March 2020; just a thought.

For this year, they're planning to release the major games they have left, except for Death Stranding.

On the first conference, they'll mention the PlayStation 5 name along with some numbers and specs from the console's architect. It will be followed by working titles and trailers of future projects from first and third party developers, giving a taste of the next generation.

On the second conference they'll go in-depth on the games announced earlier on the year, they'll talk about surprises for the console in terms of functionality, maybe giving us stuff that we always wanted and new things we never expected (or wanted). They'll showcase the console in all its glory and I believe they'll announce two SKUs: one with disc drive and HDD and other without disc drive but with a roomy SSD. More games and teasers from what's to come with PS5. And they will end with the price of both SKUs, which will probably be $299 for the discless one and $399 for the disc drive one, for release in Spring 2020.

Phil Spencer and his team are going big with the new Xbox, so we can only expect for Sony to do their best to keep the lead they've gained this generation. Leaving E3 was a huge shock for many, and dare I say, even for Microsoft whom I imagine had to be at least confused by the sudden change of venue. It means they're willing to go out of the norm to provide something different at a different time. Will it work out for them? We'll have to wait and see.

There will not be much news, they will release Days Gone, Dreams and either Death Stranding of The last of Us part 2 this fall. Shadow Tsunishima will be to mid or late 2020 and will be a cross launch game for PS5. In June Sony will probably announce a definitive price cut for the PS4.

22 December is 25 anniversary for Playstation, I bet they will show PS5 there.

Sony's been quiet recently. This has to mean something. I expect them to announce PS5 near E3 in a presentation like they did back in 2013 for the PS5. At this point, TLoU Part 2 is definetely a cross gen game.

Nothing confirmed- but they never confirm them until Q4
