based on the trend lines, it looks like it should easily be able to hit 50+ million sales by the end of its third year, if not skyrocket past it

Yeah, 50m+ at years end sounds right, this year should be easily stronger than 2018. was for Switch.

so zelda, mario, smash, kart, and splatoon are already out.  Any major hardware shifters left or will the presence of those and a price decrease keep things going up?

Core Pokemon, Animal Crossing, and Fire Emblem are all system sellers if past handhelds are anything to go by.  Hell Pokemon alone is a bigger system seller than any of Nintendo's other IPs if we are being completely honest.  Also while Bayonetta 3 is not a system seller overall, it will fill the void for a more mature exclusive and help flesh the library out of it drops this year (seeing how Prime 4 is delayed and all).

Overall the Switch should sell significantly more this year than last.

This year there's an entirely new Pokemon and Animal Crossing.  And Mario Kart was itself just a port, so MK 9 is a very real possibility for Switch.  Mario Maker is another 1 that could push units.  And a new Zelda or 3D Mario can't be ruled out.

At this point it is very hard to see Switch sales dropping for at least a year, and they could hold steady even if 2020 is weak software-wise just from momentum.  The hardware itself is attractive to consumers.

Pokemon Gen 8, Animal Crossing, Mario Maker 2, new 3D Zelda, new 3D Mario, Mario Kart 9...than smaller ones like Fire Emblem, Metroid Prime, Pikmin, 2D Zelda, Lugis Mansion..

I think he is looking for confirmed games (which there are plenty of), but you are trying to argue with assumptions.

Pikman, 2D Zelda, Mario Kart 9, New 3D Mario, New 3D Zelda, and Mario Maker 2 are not confirmed for Switch, but wanted by the fanbase.

Not to say that some of those will not come to Switch at all, but I highly doubt we will see them in 2019 outside of maybe 2D Zelda...but again, this is only an assumption.

By making assumptions, you hurt your side of the argument more than help it as it makes you look desperate.  Just some advice.

Oh I missed point, I was thinking it was generaly talking not only about current year, offcourse I dont expect all those games this year.

In that case (only this year), Pokemon Gen 8, Animal Crossing..than smaller ones like Fire Emblem, Luigis Mansion, Fire Emblem, Yoshi, Daemon X Machina, Marvel Ultimate Alliance...from just confirmed games, than you have potential games for this year like Bayonetta 3, 2D Zelda, Pikmin, Metroid Trilogy HD or that rumored Star Fox Racing game.

And to think people are betting against Switch surpassing 3DS numbers.

Bet with Intrinsic:

The Switch will outsell 3DS (based on VGchartz numbers), according to me, while Intrinsic thinks the opposite will hold true. One month avatar control for the loser's avatar.

I like how a lot of the people mentioning that Nintendo home consoles sell well and then fall of in a few years conveniently leave out Nintendo handhelds. I get it could go either way, but some of these posts aren't even mentioning the alternative, even though all signs lead to the conclusion tht the sales curve is more likely to be handheld-oriented.

Launching in march sure helps. Im surprised the wii was way ahead of the ps1 and ps2 but couldnt outsell any of them lifetime. Did the wii hit a brick wall?

nintendo cut software support for the wii after 4 years, they cut software support for wiiu i feel they will do the same with the switch
