Moving the cursor above/below quotations is currently (i.e. in the old editor) extremely painful/possibly impossible if there's no content there where you want to move to. For example, sometimes I quote someone, then decide I want to say something more generally and put it above the quotation. When I try to move the text cursor above the quotation, it actually... puts the cursor *in* the quotation area, I think? It's possible to get around this quite easily by editing the HTML, but it's not very nice. It'd be great if the new editor handled that better.

I'd also like it if the new editor had working horizontal rules. I'm not sure whether it's an editor issue or a CSS issue, but either way, I would like to see it fixed.

EDIT: The latter definitely seems like an editor issue. It's there in the editor but not in the actual post if I check its HTML (well, DOM tree, but whatever). It also came back when opened this post for editing (as in, it's here in the editor) despite it not being there in the actual post.

So - the first part doesn't seem any easier, but I think that's more the structure of how the quoted posts make it into the editor. I might be able to pad it over a bit, so it's easier to get "in front" of the quote, and therefore push it down so you can put text above it.

The horizontal rules are available in the new editor, but I don't have them enabled right now as I wasn't sure if anyone used them - so this is good to know. I'll activate and test them later, once whatever slowness is going on with the site is sorted out and I can rule out the new editor as the cause...

Too bad about the quotations but let's hope your magic helps! As for horizontal rules, I don't use them a lot but there have been certain occasions where I would have liked to use them. It's good to hear you're going to have a look at them though!

I've already pushed the quotes over a bit - does it help?

No, I don't think so. Are we talking about the same thing? I'm talking about this:

As you can see, I've marked where I want the text cursor with a picture. No matter where I click or how I try to move the cursor using arrow keys, it never seems to get up there.

As long as insert image is still easy that`ll be great. Would be nice if inserting videos would be easy as well, that`s always been something that would work one way for awhile then stop working and then you`d have to do some weird new way to do it. Would be nice if that was just simple and easy like the image one.

Oh and if doing tables was simple that would be great too. The current editor is atrocious for tables. I just copy/paste them from open office rather than create them in the editor, and even then they can be finicky to re-arrange or re-size.

As for a mobile version, I would definitely not use it. Mobile = bad, mmkay.

Bet Shiken that COD would outsell Battlefield in 2018. http://gamrconnect.vgchartz.com/post.php?id=8749702

I knew what you were referring to, so I had pushed the margin over a bit making it so you could more easily put your mouse pointer on the left, hit enter, and then have all the space you needed to type above...    ...so, I scrapped that and just put an entire line-break before the quote - that work now?

Inserting images is improved - you can now upload from local, rather than be restricted to hosted URLs. Videos are definitely improved, however, we're going to have to work together (we, as in the entire community) in identifying "trusted" sources for videos. The new editor exposes them via iframe tags, and that's not something we typically allow for security reasons. We're starting with youtube (obviously) and as we come across other sources, will discuss, and white-list as appropriate.

Tables are ABSOLUTELY easier!

Do you use mobile at all? If you do and still don't prefer a mobile-optimized editor, then we'll have to figure out a way to make it an option as to whether you use the mobile version or not - when using a mobile device...

Yeah, the other one we can work with is Vimeo.

We could already upload images locally, you just had to drag and drop them from your files onto the post. Still it's a good change if uploading those is now more obvious and simple to do. I don't really get the "trusted" video thing but I don't think I've ever even attempted to post a non-youtube video here so as long as that works then I'm happy.

Great to hear tables are easier. Is it possible to colour in certain rows/columns/cells in them, or more specifically is that simpler to do? I've seen people do it already but I wouldn't even know where to start doing that with the current editor.

And no, I've never visited VGC on a mobile and probably never will. I'm not a hypocrite when I say mobile = bad

Hm, one thing I just noticed. Selecting images can often be a pain here. You can't just click on an image, and if you try clicking it and dragging it slightly, it's apparently deleted. The only way I can select an image while editing a post is by selecting it from the space just behind it, which can be really annoying as it's a rather tiny window.

If one could just click an image to select it (and thus edit it), it'd be nice.

I'm sure I have more issues with the current system, but it's really not the kind of stuff I can remember off the top of my head, so I'll post here again if something comes up.

Actually - that's only true of Firefox (being able to drag/drop images), and it's only because of a quirk with Firefox, not because of any special functionality within the TinyMCE editor. It's the very thing that caused me to go on this hunt to upgrade the editor, in the first place!! LOL!!

Yup - selecting and editing images absolutely works better in the new editor!!

Ah, I see. Yes, it definitely works now, so thanks! It's probably still possible to end up in a similar problematic situation during editing, which I think has happened to be a few times, but this should fix the majority of the problematic cases. Anyway, any chance you could also trim leading whitespace in front of (or the whole post), and in the case of multi-quote, only prepend the extra line to the first quotation? I'm already noticing some posts having an extra line above quotations, which doesn't look too great. And sorry for bothering you some more.
