Forums - PC Discussion - Metro Exodus Becomes a Timed Exclusive to Epic Store

I feel like there is a knife stuck on my back.

2 weeks before release, Metro Exodus becomes a timed exlusive to the Epic Store.

Everyone who planned to buy the game on Steam will have to wait one more year.

For those who have already pre-ordered the game on Steam, will be able to play it on Steam.

I was really looking forward to play it, but there it goes.....

What's your take on it?

Yikes. I can understand not choosing steam as the main platform on pc but changing two weeks before the game releases is a really shitty move from deep silver.

Well that is a dickish move, considering this was going to be released on Steam before whatever deal changed that at the last minute.

You know it deserves the GOTY.

It sucks, in large because this has nothing to do with "gaining more attention on another platform", and everything to do with money-hatting. Look, money-hatting is a completely legitimate business strategy, but it still sucks.

That's absolutely disgusting.

If this was console I'd be furious. But, seeing as purchasing a game from Epic instead of steam costs me nothing besides like literally seconds of inconvenience I honestly couldn't care less.

Don't know if that's true or not, but rumors like this are going around:

Epic denies this of course.

The game was originally announced for Windows Store, and I was all geared up to grab the Gold Edition. Now I guess I'm waiting another year. Glad I bought my PC for Microsoft Games, because the 3rd party PC expereince is still a mess.

Hopefully Microsoft will address this at E3. They need to work harder to make Game Anywhere standard across all XB and Windows titles. I am loving RE7, FFXV, Gears 4, FH4, and the rest of the great titles I can play on PC, XBO X, and Laptop.

Stop hate, let others live the life they were given. Everyone has their problems, and no one should have to feel ashamed for the way they were born. Be proud of who you are, encourage others to be proud of themselves. Learn, research, absorb everything around you. Nothing is meaningless, a purpose is placed on everything no matter how you perceive it. Discover how to love, and share that love with everything that you encounter. Help make existence a beautiful thing.

This is the future of gaming and TV, more and more services with exclusive and/or locked content, look at Disney as well, releasing their own streaming service and pulling their content from competition. It kinda sucks, this is one of the disadvantages of digital games, but for me the disadvantages are few and far inbetween so it's all good. I'll simply wait for this title to come to Steam or GOG then, I refuse to add even more clients to my OS.

Well, that just means I can't buy the game for at least a year.
