Forums - Nintendo Discussion - I Hope This Is True!!

Goddamn I hope this is true so fucking bad. I finished Metroid Prime and started 2 but by that point I was kind of done with the Wii U. I really want to play the entire trilogy. It would be especially cool if the visuals got a huge overhaul rather than just a straight port, but either would be amazing. I hope they can find a way to make the gyro controls as accurate as the motion controls were for the Wii collection.

It would be great if it's true.

With how much improved the Joycons must be over the Wii controllers it can't be too hard.

If I recall correctly, there are certain advantages that pointer controls + IR sensors have over gyro controls. They aren't the same thing and it isn't a straight 1:1 port. So just because the motion controls in the joycons are more accurate from a gyro perspective, doesn't necessarily mean the gyro experience translates well as a supplement to pointer controls.

Although still, Nintendo should be able to make it work. After all, Metroid Prime 1 and 2 were not originally developed for motion controls.

Wasn't this kind of expected? An HD remaster of the Wii version, change wiimote controls with joycons, and you have a quick remake. Easy money and advertisement for MP4.

You know it deserves the GOTY.

I hope so.

The Prime Trilogy on Wii is hard to find, and super popular. Getting the three main games in their own boxes is easy though. Metroid Prime 1, and 2 is about $12 each. Metroid Prime 3 is $22. But for some reason people want the Wii version, which sells for $70. If they really did port this to the Switch it would sell 1-2 million easily.

Do it Nintendo! You bastards!

Hasn't it been rumored for awhile? It most likely is true. Hopefully it releases this year so we can get our Metroid fix

To be honest if Nintendo didn't bring this to the Switch it would be leaving money on the table for no real reason,. port this trilogy before the release of MP4, port Pikmin 1-3 then bring 4, and of course Luigis Mansion 1+2 and then drop 3 as Switch titles. Games like this would really please older Nintendo fans and patch gaps in the first party library while at the same time introducing some of these franchises to new gamers who didn't have a GC or WiiU and have now found themselves with a Switch.

Or new gamers who got a Wii U and used it for a little less than a year before forgetting about it. YUCK!
