So they are both a one trick pony for multiple Metroid games and a one trick pony for multiple DK games, because they did nothing but Metroid before Returns.

Again you're trying to use the old team in your argument currently about the new team. Doesn't quite work. This current team in place that people are excite for hasn't shown us they're capable of making a Metroid style of game,as of yet, as they've only shown us they're capable of platformers and sidescrollers. Then have been MIA for the last sum odd 5 years with nothing to show us what they're truly capable of. This is why I personally do not see the hype in the announcement of them being involved in the game when they have not shown us that they're capable of pulling it off(as of yet). Who knows, maybe in 4-5 years when its finally revealed I'll be proven wrong and that would be awesome. But until that time comes, I just cant agree to the sentiment that this is a overall positive thing at this point in time.

Do you realize that most studios which last more than 10 years probably always go through multiple periods where they have more new staff than old, and nobody tends to care because things continue to run smoothly? Do you also realize that this is a slippery slope since depending on the age of the studio and how often they hire "new staff" could refer to people who were hired years ago, or who joined the company just a year after creation? See how silly that sounds?
Precaution is always the preferable act but this is such a slippery slope. It's worth a mention because it's a factor at play, but it isn't basis for an entire argument about whether Retro is capable or not. The only reason we're even calling Retro's new studio a "one-trick pony" is because they dared to take up a different franchise then Metriod, and after the 2nd entry of said franchise their rate of production went to shit. Essentially we have almost no data on how much of a one trick pony they are, because there isn't even really a sample size, there's only two games. Now ... if they made Metroid Prime 4 after DKC Returns, and it was shit, then that would be a much better case.
Being neutral to Retro is the best way to go, but when you're using that position to just say negative things about their prospects it doesn't look "neutral". I quite honestly don't even think there's enough hype behind Retro taking over MP4 for there to be as much counter-arguments as there are currently against them, it's not like this announcement shook people because Retro was making it, most people don't even seem to care beyond the game being delayed.
