Yeah, but for the longest time a good 4K monitor at 32 inches would cost something like $700, (while a good 4K TV at 55 inches could be had for $300) it was only recently that a good 4K 32 inch monitor was priced at $300 to $400. So I imagine those 32 inch OLED monitors with good response time, and hertz will take forever to come down in price. 

But yeah, those will blow everything away. They'll make 1080p look like 480 or less.

Anything OLED will take a long time to down in price. ;P

For me, that's why an IPS/HDR monitor (4 or 8K) makes for such a comparable alternative. Only an OLED display can top it.

 Unfortunately OLED has burn in and image retention issues which make them unsuitable for pc monitors.

Last years top end 55" 4k OLED sets are on sale now and can be got for around $1300. There is no doubt prices are coming down. Mass production is ramping up. A laptop screen was recently announced and LG sales forecasts expect a big increase in sales again this year. Next year they will switch manufacturing of the panels to high end sets and apparently that will reduce costs further.

Maybe your TV just isn't good. I have a 1080p 36" LG TV from 2008 that cost €800. I also have a 1080p 55" Sony bravia from 2014 that cost €1200. The 2008 set despite also being 1080p looks like absolute shit compared to the 2014 set. It's the same with 4k TV's. The cheapest 4k sets look like absolute shit compared to the higher end newer ones.

There is a laptop coming out this year with a 27" OLED screen. Looks like they're getting close to mass market penetration. High emissions OLED's are coming next year and should be mass market in 2021. They'll look even better, cost less to produce and will reduce the risk of burn in. Good Times ahead.

For 1300 and up I would expect an OLED screen. But 1300 is way too much to spend on a TV.

I love it. Because I'm way behind in my backlog, the only games I've played that support it are Ratchet and Clank 2016, Uncharted 4, Monster Hunter World and Matterfall. I think that's all of them. ha. I kinda want to revisit inFamous Second Son and First Light, because they support it and were already lookers.

For 1300 and up I would expect an OLED screen. But 1300 is way too much to spend on a TV. 

I disagree if like me you spend about 20% of your year watching the TV and mainly for games. I was single in 2008 and lived by myself in 2014 so paid the €800 and €1200 for the TV myself. But I'm now living with my partner and she agreed to go 50/50 on our next TV. So happy days my budget just increased!

I really dont see a vast improvment unless its side by side.

All of these latest upgrades just seem minor to me and you kinda forget about it while just playing. Frankly, my only concern is avoiding TVs that have an objectively bad picture, ghosting, etc.

Lol I spend 4200 on a 52" 1080p LCD in 2006. 4K tvs went down in price fast. However I'm still using that tv, while the 4K HDR tv will be outdated when hdmi 2.1 arrives...

HDR is the biggest leap in TV tech in years. It is the only reason I upgraded to the Z9D. I had looked at 4K TV sets for years, but nothing had a dramatic enough leap in PQ to justify an upgrade until HDR.

I have to say that OLED is absolutely not the way to go for HDR though. Full Array Locally Dimmed LEDs like Sony's Z9 series, or Samsung's QLEDs are where you really see the benefits of HDR. The next massive leap will be with Sony CLEDIS and Samsung MicroLED. This tech will give you the benefits of per pixel illumination like OLED has, while also offering full 10K Nits peak brightness, and no fear of burn in.

If you are in the market purely for an HDR TV right now, the only sets I would look at are Sony's Z9 Series or Samsung's QLEDs. Non of the other TVs deliver benefits of HDR.

OLED has it's own benefits, but HDR is not the highlight of OLED technology.

So i have a 55 inch samsung MU6279  apperently it has Numerous image enhancement systems such as UHD Dimming, Wide Color Enhancer, PurColor and 1400Hz PQI and comes equipped with a current 8-bit VA panel and Edge LED backlight.  Overall, the Samsung UE55ME6279 impresses with its above-average image quality.  That is some parts of a review i copied and pasted means nothing to maybe you guys can shed some light on it and maybe help me out to how i shoild have the tv set up ( contast,sharpness etc)
