Of the games currently releasing on the PS4 you have about 30+ indie titles to each rdr2 or Spiderman, given that the switch will never have an issue running those games which will pour onto the ps5 as well to achieve a library which 95% of the games wouldn't run on the switch you would need AAA title launches to increase 600 fold so that those rdr type games would outnumber indie titles by 20:1 rather than the 1:30 ratio they hold now. Do people have insider information about several hundred new AAA studios launching?

Also if you agree with a post on vgchartz you can click the agree button under it, you don't need to quote it and say "this"

So indie games are system sellers now?

Of the AAA games I listed is any of them an indie game?

Around the Network

I bought an XB1 with three games in mind.
One was okay, but generally didn't feel like exploring and doing all the content.
One was fine, but I can't recommend it.
One was cancelled and never came out.

The first two are on PC. Any other game I find interesting will be on PC. Infact will probably be on PC, require no payment for "internet", and may even be $10 on gamepass.

So I can say I will never get another Xbox console. But they may one day force me to update to windows 10 for a game. Only time will tell.
Alan wake 2 I'm looking at you.

Are individual indies major system sellers? Not likely. Are the combination of dozens of high quality indies a system seller? Potentially.

Games like Rocket League, Celeste, Hollow Knight, Dead Cells, Stardew Valley, Overcooked, Golf Story, etc have gotten alot of attention on Switch and most indies these days sell significantly more on Switch than other platforms, often more than all other platforms combined. For many of these games its also the only portable platform and many indie games are perfect for on the go gaming.

I had Xbone pegged for 60-65m lifetime but that's starting too look a little over-optimistic.

One thing's for sure, they need to drop the "Xbox One" branding and pick a new name for their next system, the words "Xbox One" have come to be associated with inferiority. Even after all these years they've been unable to outrun the shadow of 2013's monumental blunders.

The next xbox will be coupled in harmony with Windows 10. I could see this affecting the name. Xbox is more about services than being focused on the console, so we'll see.

My prediction was 45 to 50 mil max by the end of gen. Ive been out of the loop on VG Chartz most of 2018, so my prediction was from 2017.

I think the Windows thing actually hurts the chances of the XB2 or XBW(indows.)  I mean, if you can get all of their games on PC, why not upgrade your PC for about as much as the, probably, $499 Scarlet will cost?  Granted it would probably be closer to the base XB2 in power, but it'll still play all of their games.  I know there are some people, like myself, who just prefer console gaming.  Still, if you only get a XB2, it seems a little pointless.  A PS5+PC, like the PS4+PC of this gen, is just the way to go to get pretty much everything.  Just need a Switch to get everything.  I just don't see many people going XB2+PC or XB2+PC+Switch.

And it looks like your prediction is going to be close, maybe even spot on.  I think it will finish just north of 50M, maybe 52M, but it stops there.  This year doesn't look to be off to a good start, at least according to Amazon.  It's only SKU on the Top 100 for the year is at #95, and is $229 with a 1TB HDD and Minecraft with some bundled DLC.  That's $70 cheaper than the standalone PS4, which is at #49.  Even the $170 more expensive Pro is sitting at #82.

"The NS will not be able to play probably around 95% of the games released for the PS5 So how can they be competing with eachother?"

Do you want to go back and change this to include some *'s? such as "95% of the library (not including indie games and only including AAA games or those produced by Sony) will not run on the Switch." That statement would then be somewhat correct, as it stands what you posted in http://gamrconnect.vgchartz.com/post.php?id=8961001 in that paragraph I've quoted in its entirety is absolutely wrong, without a shadow of a doubt without even the need of a time machine or a psychic it's just wrong.

Honestly, MS will never win a gen. That ship has sailed.

I just hope they provide an intriguing platform next gen. Sunset Overdrive, and maybe Sea of Thieves, are the only exclusives I want to play on Xbox.

You see I suspect many more people are like you and the fact all xbox games will be on pc will give them when less reason to invest in the box instead of Nintendo and Sony's offerings.

While this is true..... its also true that everything ets scaled up with each new gen. Chances are that there will be indie games made fr the PS5/XBn that also just won't run on the NS.

Highly unlikely though as indie developers will focus maximizing their reach and sales so ensuring their games works on the NS will be a priority.

I won't go back and change what I said. Cause then all you have been saying will become baseless.

It was an honest oversight on my part, but when I said 95% of games on those platforms I was not thinking of or considering indie games.

I am referring to AAA games. The games that will make the most of the PS5/XBn hardware. The games that won't even be able to run on a PS4/XB1.

Yeah so like I said you're talking about 95% of less than 30-40% of the PS5's library meaning somewhere in the region of 28-37% of the PS5 titles would be those which require significant work to be ported to the Switch.

Sources for numbers would be

As of this article which lists the games up as far as Nov 2017 there was over 917 indie titles on the PS4

https://www.finder.com.au/gaming/playstation-4-indie-games

and on Wiki the total list of games on or coming to the PS4, this list is 1857 games long, of which 263 titles are either not released or were not released as of Nov 2017 when the article was giving the indie numbers, this means that of the 1594 games on the system at the time 917 of them were indie titles or another way to look at it 677 of them were not directly classified as indie games or 42% of the library is "not indie" Just means that right off the bat you'll see the same ratios of indie games on the PS5 because indie games are nice easy impulse buys which have proven to do very well on consoles, also the ps5's AAA games are likely to have an even longer dev time and be less frequent than they are on the PS4 so the ratio will be much more in favor of indie : AAA, just yeah the math of it right now should show that 58% of the library of the current machine is indie and considering those games run on PC's with onboard graphics cards or Mobile phones hardware will never be an issue for that type of project.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_PlayStation_4_games

But if you want to alter the statement to not include 58% of the consoles library, then there might be some credence to it.

I know it's not technically an indie game, but you most certainly couldn't list Fortnite as being a AAA title, that thing is one game mode and one map for a good lot of the versions which are most certainly system sellers since it has been bundled with all 3 of the major consoles... even though the game is free 2 play lol.

Fortnites initial budget (marketing aside) was tiny compared to any AAA title and the team behind the project was a side group to the ones creating Fortnite - Save the world, the campaign of the game which isn't even included with several versions including the Switch version.
