We don't.

My bet with The_Liquid_Laser: I think the Switch won't surpass the PS2 as the best selling system of all time. If it does, I'll play a game of a list that The_Liquid_Laser will provide, I will have to play it for 50 hours or complete it, whatever comes first.

To be fair, most of them would have gone extinct anyway. And besides, we are a part of nature anyway, so why should we feel bad, or even responsible, of the extinctions that took place before we gained an awareness of our potential power to influence other lifeforms, as well as an inherent sense of morality towards their preservation?

Also, we are deliberately making species such as smallpox, tuberculosis and other diseases extinct, and noone will condemn that line of thinking.

You know it deserves the GOTY.

It's all gonna end soon.

We're reaching the singularity at a very fast pace. And, unless we go hardcore sustainable, the God we're building now, which is called Artificial Intelligence, will wipe us out.

So don't worry. Everything is under perfect control. This was meant to happen from the very beginning..

These are 100+ notable animals that went extinct in record history because of us.

I try to stay positive, I really do, but this leaves such a big mess behind that I don't know if anyone can fix. Why do we suck so much as a species? -_-

We are fairly morally broken as a species. I think this is worth while, but what we do to each other is even worse.

By all means you're welcome to leave.

Because they've become too integral in my lifestyle, and I'm trying to be more energy efficient. And you're using a computer too.

yes i am but i'm not stating that humans are some blight to the universe because of their activities while partaking in those activities

be the change you want to see in the world, if you care for the environment then donate all your unnecessary shit to environmental causes

Humans are given a hard time but we have to realise we are in over our heads. We created all this tech without understanding what the implications would be. We're constantly learning about how the stuff we use hurts the environment like CFCs before, CO2, plastics etc. We fixed the hole in the ozone and most of us are somewhat trying to stop CP2 emissions. I think we need to cut hi,amity some slack, except stupid poachers because we never intended to kill off species and there was no malice or evil intent behind it. Humans are just stupider than we think we are and we are punching way above our weight and that of course is causing loads of problems

Well said.

The only thing I will add tot his is people saying who cares we are above the food change. Have a look at some docos on how the planet actually works. All the bugs people hate have a purpose on this planet. Nature may take care of them in the long run but something will replace them. We do not have to go out of our way to actively do it lol.

I'm not about to advocate for the killing off of endangered species or hunting just for the sport of it, but at the same time - I feel like some people look at this in the wrong way. Animals killing off other animals is just nature - it's the weird irony of life. And we're just as much a part of that system as any other animal that slaughters their prey. We just do it on more of a mass and deadly scale. But there are many varieties of life that would (and do) kill humans when given the chance.

I feel like in some ways this ideal that "humans are evil/destructive" and need to "pull back" seems to ignore the fact that we're completely integrated in this whole ecosystem of competition between species for survival. We're animals ourselves at the end of the day.
