Well, despite losing BF, NS won the whole holidays WW for the first time, and by a good margin too. PS4 won the whole year, probably for the last time, but it still has quite a big potential, it will end 2019 as a very big second. In the 4th quarter of this year PS4 should outsell PS1 and Wii lifetime, BTW. Most probably PS5 will launch in 2020Q4, but PS4 will keep on selling for at least another two years after that.
At least for the first two years there won't be a true direct competition between PS5 and NS, as the price difference will be too large to cater for the same potential buyers, so NS could enjoy at least 4 years of domination.

Of course. The PS4 Slim 1TB is 299 on Amazon right now. PS4 500GB launched for 399 in 2013.

There is definitely the space to lower the price, but Sony is not willing to do it, they are collecting money before PS5, the leaks show they prepare something... surprising.

But the Wii U had good games too.

Kinda, but not really.  If it had good games, then it didn't have many.

True, most were way beyond just good

Lol.

I can't defend the Wii U.  All I can say is that if a bunch of people skip your console one generation, then it looks like a good idea to port the best games to the next generation.  See also: PS3 and PS4.

I'm hoping Tokio Mirage Sessions, Fatal Frame V and Super Mario Maker getting ported, these are still missing but pretty great Wii U games, the first one in particular for me.

Mario Maker was my favorite Wii U game.  Also I think it would have been a much better launch game than Nintendoland.  People love Mario, and it gives a very good reason why you'd need the Wii U gamepad.

A bad launch is one of the many reasons why the Wii U did not do well.

Because 2 is already out, might get confusing for non-fans. Otherwise, yes, certainly

There's a new King of the Jungle, and it's name is the Nintendo Switch.

Iirc last year Switch outsold the PS4 during the Holidays. I think we will go back to seeing the PS4 outselling the Switch consistently on a weekly basis sometime in January.

I'm not so sure. The PS4 was down 10% in 2018 compared to 2017. If that happens again, it loses another 1.8M and is at 16.2M. The Switch won 28% in 2018. Let's saythe Switch grows only 10% in 2019, then it is at 18.6M for the year. So I don't think PS4 manages to outsell Switch consistently in 2019.
