If Spain 2017 numbers were 300k and they are 390k in 2018 for VGC:

UK+FR+GE+SP in 2017 = 2514k of 3404k in all Europe (890k in the rest)
UK+FR+GE+SP in 2017 = 3002k of 4784k in all Europe (1782k in the rest)

So if my maths don't lie...., 100% growth YOY in the rest of Europe in 2018 compared to 2017 according to VGC....(when UK+FR+GE+SP could be around 19% combined).

Your numbers look a bit off to me.

2017

France-910k

UK-680k

Germany-600k

Italy-300k

2018

France-1130k

UK-820k

Germany-??? (Likely 750k)

Italy-390k

I'm using VGC numbers in the database. If a number is incorrect, please correct me. i was comparing VGC numbers from 2017 and 2018.

So far PS4 won 2018 and beat Sony's own updated target. I think nobody in Sony expect GoW/SM/SotC to be that high-rated and good selling titles. More over, the money PS4 is pushing with 3rd party and Plus membership is insane.
Fingers crossed for 2019.

Gotcha, the numbers I posted are from released data.

Switch did ~300k in 2017 so that's up about 30% YoY.

UK, France and Spain all up 20-30% YoY.

Oh thanks for that 2017 number. I was searching everywhere but i couldn't find it. So another big market in Europe in the 20-30% growth YOY then.

Pretty impressive numbers for spain where smash is not really big and pklg got a lot of criticism... I think they will do much better thisyear with new pkmn generation and well anybody knows which IP from nintendo does well in spanish market?

From these numbers

NSW 11,517,000 (including France)

PS4 8,836,000

Gives a difference of 2,681,000. We know that Switch was the best selling console in France in 2018 because that was announced iirc.

So even if we add a million for France the Switch still leads by over 1.5 million units.

And it's all down to Japan.

If Spain 2017 numbers were 300k and they are 390k in 2018 for VGC:

UK (736k)+FR (911k)  +GE (567k)+SP (300k) in 2017 = 2514k of 3404k in all Europe (890k in the rest)
UK (830k)+FR (1092k)+GE (690k)+SP (390k) in 2018 = 3002k of 4784k in all Europe (1782k in the rest)

According to VGC data for 2017 and 2018 (except Spain ones of course)

So if my maths don't lie...., 100% growth YOY in the rest of Europe in 2018 compared to 2017 according to VGC....(when UK+FR+GE+SP could be around 19% combined).

And ?

In 2013 the PS4 sold 1682K in Europe.

UK (565K)+FR (260K)+ GE (278K) = 1103K (579K for the rest)

In 2014 the PS4 dols 6053K in Europe.

UK (1261K)+ FR (845K) + GE (1065K) = 3171K (2882K for the rest)

UK : +123%

FR : +225%

GE : +283%

Rest : +398%

You do realise that in 2013, the PS4 was only available for a month and a half right??

I think the point he is making is that the YoY rise was significantly higher outside of the big Europe markets. UK, France & Germany were up 120-280% while the rest of Europe was up 400%.

The person he responded to doesnt think Switch can be up 100% in the smaller markets because it's only up 20-30% in the big markets so all he is doing is pointing out a flaw in his reasoning.

You are comparing a launch period where the stock at launch was focused in the main markets, especially UK to a full year. And despite that the rest is not 5 times better than France or Germany like in the case I'm pointing out. So yes, if you want to make that unfair comparison it's your right, but it doesn't disqualify my point either.

And that 100% grow includes Italy too so if Italy is probably around 20-30% too, then the rest of Europe grow even more than 100% then. The disparity in growth between European markets is obvious. If you chose to believe is possible I'm OK with that. In my case I decide I don't.
