Days Gone has been among the least interesting exclusives on PS4 since release. Killzone Shadow Fall, Infamous Second Son, Driveclub, The Order 1886, Bloodborne, Uncharted 4, The Last Guardian, Gravity Rush 2, Horizon Zero Dawn, Persona 5, Gran Turismo Sport, God of War, Spiderman were games with more hype and which I was more excited for and most of them were good. The new trailer for Days Gone has done nothing to change my hype and from internet as well.

Comments on youtube are telling about the utter distaste for this game. It looks competently made, don't get me wrong, but it looks generic. Its a zombie game, in an open world and it isn't doing anything new with either of those. The camps and you taking them down in many ways looks like Far Cry. The visuals are good and it looks polished but that isn't enough. Sony Bend should have made Resistance 4 instead, they made Resistance Retribution and it was the best shooter on PSP and Sony could do with more FPS games as well as since Resistance 3 was fantastic.

Days Gone isn't going to sell well. Jim Sterling had a take on it which I agree with, it looks like it could be a competent, even the best zombie game but we have had enough zombie games and enough open worlds. The hand to hand combat looks bad and the story isn't treading new areas. Its a been there, done that game for which not a lot of people care.

Na it looks OK. Also comments are generaly favorable on trailers and gameplay videos. It most likely won't be an amazing game but its OK, the market has room for good games that are not groundbreaking. And I'm pretty sure it'll sell decently too, Assassin's Creed does jackshit new, has boring ass open worlds an manages to sell well every single time (and even somehow gets nominated for the game Awards).

It reminds me of games like ReCore or State of Decay, solid titles that due to the lack of other exclusives on their platform, got hyped beyond what they should have been. Sony hasn’t released a big exclusive since GoW IIRC. This is releasing early in the year when there’s not much else, and as a result, it’s being made into a bigger title than it should be.

It’s also a lot like 1886 in that regard. I expect something more than 1886, that game was doodoo, but I agree with you that when I see this game I just see meh. I see been there, done that. It would take a pretty special narrative to overcome what has been lackluster gameplay in the videos I have seen.

They released Spider-Man, one of the biggest games of 2018, in September of 2018. But their first party studios technically didn't make it.

It looks pretty generic and the main character always sounds like hes in a porn with his orgasm voice. This game should've released over a year ago and I think it might've stood a chance. I just feel not only waiting fatigue has hurt but with games like RDR 2 coming out for open world stuff, then TLOU 2 will be out(somewhat of zombie-esque monsters), that it just feels like a ''too little, too late'' mindset for this game. It has nothing special nor unique about it. It will prob be a fairly decent game, but not a exclusive to write home about like other titles coming down the pipeline on ps4

It looks like solid AAA title, but I just don't get how it was greenlit. This is certainly not what was missing in Sony's portfolio, nor is it doing anything that screams passion project from bend studios.

At the very least its a safe title, in a safe genre with a proven audience and nothing about it looks bad. I don't know whether it being like a lower budget looking RDR2 & TLOU2 mashup will help or hinder it. For sure though, it's looks less impressive because of those 2 titles on either side of its release.

Excluding any original from themselves (I wouldn't call this very original), I would have loved for them to handle a Jak & Daxter reboot instead.

It's perhaps one of the least interesting because it's not treading any new ground. It's a mash up of a few different existing and already executed ideas. Not every film, book, comic -insert whatever medium you like- has to completely reinvent the wheel. Sometimes, just a very solid piece of work in an established genre is enough. Also, a little ironic you're complaining of these things while asking for a new Resistance game instead. Resistance was definitely more of the same in a very crowded, overdone genre. But, it was solid.

As for youtube, I actually didnt see much negativity in the comments and I was only reading them earlier today in work. A lot of people seemed pleased the game had been delayed as it looks more polished.

That said, I'm not convinced about this game. It has the potential to be very good, but there's been a few issues that look concerning (too many cutscenes, the dialogue, the story, some of the mechanics looking choppy, framerate etc.) I'm going to wait on reviews and ignore any of the 'more of the same' criticisms that will definitely impact it's overall score, but instead focus on the critque of the gameplay and story.

I would not be surprised if Days Gone gets bad to average reviews, the game doesn't look nearly as good as other PS4 exclusives and the studio making it doesn't have a good historic when it comes to making quality games.

Agree with a lot of things said in this thread so far, i don't understand why Sony greenlit this game with Last of Us 2 coming. Despite the obvious differences i don't know if the general gaming-audiences will care. Sony Bend should be very afraid for their future considering this is their first game since 2012 and Sony has closed studios for less
