Yeah, I'm really not sure why some people are shitting on it. My only real complaint so far is that it seems like it will be short. I just hit the 25 hour mark, and I only have 2.5 Disney worlds left ahead of me plus some original KH worlds, and I have been getting all collectibles and doing the minigames as I go. When Nomura said the reason for the lower number of Disney worlds relative to KH1 and especially KH2 was because they wanted to do fewer, larger worlds that felt like a whole game each, I was hoping for 4 or 5 hours per world at least, but so far only the Tangled world has been as long as I was hoping for (and my favorite world in the game so far), while one world in particular was extremely short (like 25 minutes).
Other than that the gameplay is the best in the series to date, the story is good so far, the graphics and art design are good, and the music is great as usual.
Well most complaints I've heard boil down to either the story, which, like, if you don't like the story complexity you probably checked out after Chain of Memories and need to leave the people still invested in it alone, or that there aren't enough new innovations to the gameplay, that it's too much like KH2, or something, but I liked that game, so I don't see how that's a problem. I also heard something about the camera not following your character closely enough, but that was from a nitpicky friend of mine and overall nothing has made me doubt that I'll enjoy the game when I finally get my hands on it. That's disappointing to hear about the Disney worlds and the length, but so long as I can squeeze 40 hours out of it I won't be upset, and I'm a completionist so no worries there. Glad to hear Tangled was good. Of the worlds I've heard about so far, that was one of the ones I was really looking forward to. The short one isn't Toy Story is it? Please say no...
Thanks for the spoiler free review though, and yeah, with Yoko Shimomura at the helm, Kingdom Hearts always has some of the best music.
