Forums - Microsoft Discussion - I don't care what anyone says. Xbox customer support is awesome!

I posted long ago about how my Xbox broke360  when I tried to take it apart. It was still during the time of the rrod. I told the lady that the damage was my fault and I wanted to cancel gold. She said ", Send it in anyway. They'll probably fix it"...and they did!

Well, I purchased Red Dead Redemption 2 digitally for Xbox One. My daughter plays it every time she comes over pretty much nonstop (her mother and I aren't together anymore). I decided it would be nice if I bought her her on digital copy and, a  maybe a month ago I did just that.

Today I picked her up from school and asked if she made any progress. After a small conversation I found out that she doesn't really play video games at her mom's house. WHAT!! That was $60 wasted! Long story short, I got a refund within minutes from customer service via Xbox.com. No questions asked.

A waaay better experience than I had with another company when I accidentally purchased the regular version of Star Wars Battlefront instead of the Deluxe version. They actually accused me of constantly abusing the service despite it being my first time ever asking for a digital refund, not fully downloading the game, and having spent hundreds if tnot THOUSANDS on digital purchases over the years.

Now, guess who has two thumbs and is about to buy Resident Evil 2 Remake for practically free. This guy!

My Xbox One was about a year and half old, so past its 1 year warranty. Hardly used it. Just used it mostly for movies. It quit displaying. Looked online for solutions, tried a few, called in customer support, was told same things I tried.

They told me to take it in to a microsoft store. I asked how much repair would be before wasting my time. Told the repair for my problem would be $180. Don't know if tax would be one top of that. But I looked on Amazon and I purchased the Xbox One S for like $210.00

I did not fix my xbox one s. It is sitting in a closet, and I went and puchased a 4k blu ray player instead.

Summary: Was customer service good or bad? I guess good. They tried helping and were nice, but hardly want to pay to fix something for the price of basically a new system.

Microsoft's support has always been good... But once the RROD became a prominent issue, they had no choice but to build a service to what we have today.
And props to them, it's a good selling point.

yes agreed my kids made purchases on Roblox that I didn't notice until months after when their mom told me she is constantly getting emails about purchases and I got a refund no hassle at all. meanwhile, Sony refused to give me a refund when they banned my IP a week after I renewed my psplus subscription

Eventually you paid (over?) $120 for two games... that's not "practically free".

You also could have legally shared your first copy of RDR2 instead of buying a second copy.

I think what makes the best customer support is when you never have to need them. Iv had very good runs with my Xbox consoles, cant say the same with my other ones.

maybe for you
I had some bad experiences with them

Yeah. We do that when I buy her games using my Xbox. I failed to mention that I bought RDR as a digital gift. I was still able to get the refund. Yeah, I did pay for it. I know it wasn't free at all but it was still $60 I didn't expect to have.

Also, I plan on buying the digital deluxe version so I'm still paying a little on top of the $60 I got back. Basically, I'm full of blarney.

Good for you ,but why are you telling us, I know you love your anecdotes but that's all  it is, for every good story you can find a bad one and that applies to all three customer service teams, sometimes the difference between a good or bad outcome can come down to who happens to pick up the call, and I know because thats what happened to me first call dismissed second call different person fixed. Now you've given me a headache because I can't decide if they have good or bad customer service, d2lewis hand me the headache tablets.
