At this rate, it's definitely going to be cross-gen. And honestly, I hope the gameplay is still turn-based. I'd hate for it to move to a FFXV-style action game where I just control Cloud while the rest of the party is controlled by AI and I'm just flailing about with barrages of melee attacks with a shallow token magic system. I was excited when they announced the remake, but subsequent developments have made me very worried.

I don't care what the gameplay type is as long as it's still fun. I do think they need to find a way to make it different than just copying what the original FF7 did but yea it still needs to be fun. If they want to keep it turn based with some sort twist that's fine with me.

If i remember correctly, they will add all 5 parts of FFVII into this remake. That is why it is so big

All five parts? You mean discs... and it was only four. >_>

I know people have already replied but none of them pointed out that FF VII was only three discs.

Now that Kingdom Hearts ist released, i think it will make an big Return at E3

I like your optimistic outlook.

I'm in the camp that thinks it's been pushed back to next generation. Though I'm also expecting a sequal afterwards.

I'd love a crisis core remaster to tie me over. Excellent game, if not predictable...

I'm also quite certain we'll see Genesis and he'll play a big part in the "ffVII-2" ending.

With FFVIIR you need to be optimistic😀

In development he(ll)avon. 3 Discs x FFVII = 21 year development cycle.

It's Square Enix, their internal structure is awful so mainline KH and FF games take a decade to make now. While we're waiting on FFVIIR, look forward to FF XVI in 2040.

Three or four discs don't matter. 5 parts is: Before Crisis, Crisis Core, FFVII, Dirge of Cerberus, Advent Chidren.

Its Square, its gona take them like 15 years to release it. It will release eventualy, just nowhere near this year, or the next, or the one after...

This has only happened to 1 game. Not enough to even make it a track record.

Only one game? That's slowly becoming their Modus Operandi by now.

Dragon Quest XI S taking forever to come out on Switch, 2 years after the PS4/3DS versions and 4 years after the Switch version's announcement.

Kingdom Hearts III was in production since at least 2013

Final Fantasy XV, originally known as FF Versus XIII, was in development since 2006, a whole 10 years. So long that is the development that it has it's own wikipedia page.

FF7 Remake is since 2015 in full production an we're still getting no information at all.

FF7, plus 2 prequels and 2 sequels. Don't know about you but I don't see Die Hard 1-5 as all the same film.

Hmm, pie.
