Forums - Gaming Discussion - Re2 would've been better with the classic camera

But if the camera exists in 2015 with until dawn, that means that the classic camera is not something that belongs in the past

Right?

Wouldn't the camera style aid in horror cinematic feel in re2 as well?

I don't think it was done out of necessity, we had games like siphon filter that had this action aproach, and that we could aim

Most PS1s had no controllers with analog sticks when RE2 was released in January 1998. The dual analog controller was announced in November 1996 and released in April 1997... development for RE2 probably happened years earlier.

And moving a free camera without a dedicated stick (or mouse) for that input was always a pain.

Syphon filter was in a much better position one year later.

siphon filter launched, and resident evil didn't change

RE changed when remake sold badly in the gamecube and they decided to change the mechanics just to see re4 flop on the gamecube as well

The dislike ratios on RE2 videos are always very small. it only shows that the majority liked the new approach.

I personally like fixed cameras, I think it’s fun but I can definitely admit it’s a dated feel. I also think that this RE2 is better with the updated cameras, it feels great and horrorish because the halls are so tight and you can’t see even with this camera.

I do really wish they would have offered an option to pick the original camera style, that would have been a cool stat to see how many players choose original camera or new.

Yeah... I know most people liked it, let's see if the amount of people liking it is gonna be sufficient to make the game not get beaten up by KH3 when it launches

it's 42 on amazon at the moment

Since when are RE4, REmake and RE 0 considered flops on GameCube?

I'm going to love Resident Evil 2. Unfortunately, I can tell that A LOT of other people won't. When the game gets released, I fully expect to see a 4.8 user score on Metacritic (and it will probably be even lower for Xbox One). The general comment for the 0's. 1's, 2's, and 3's will be "Screw you, Crapcom. All you needed to do was remake this game like RE1 on Gamecube. Instead, you decided to give it a 3rd person view like RE 4, 5, and 6." I'm already seeing plenty of comments just like this in the "Reviews" tab for the RE 2 demo on Xbox Live.

Nostalgia goggles, loads of people are going to QQ about however they made the RE2Make but still it's probably going to be the same as those who complained that RE7 was such a step away from the Resident Evil they wanted.... so they pirated it and played it that way to show capcom who's boss!

Grand if the game is not for you, just as long as you leave it at that it's cool, no harm no foul.

Just gotta say "I felt betrayed" Capcom made a game people have been asking them to make for years, they've done their research into making the best game they can put out not just hd'ing the PSone title.

Why not check me out on youtube and help me on the way to 2k subs over at www.youtube.com/stormcloudlive

No way. I tried playing pre-RE4 camera Resident Evil games last year for nostalgia and I just can't do it. I'm not even sure how I did it on the first RE back in the day. The sudden changes in movement controls and not being able to see what's going on near you half the time isn't fun. Running down a hallway and not even knowing there was an enemy standing right in front of you until either the camera jarringly changes again or you get attacked doesn't make the game better. That says nothing about how shitty it feels controlling your character like it's a tank even when you can see.
