Just wait for another week or two then everyone will be laughing at you.

Ha !

not at all, no one will remember just.

Yea I might be suffering from amnesia already.  I'll try to remember at least till we get proper YW4 and SMM2 weekly numbers in.

lol...Did I say a month ago that the Switch had really started its decline and I was mocked for this opinion.

What you got mocked for is this line of thinking:

Even with Yokai 4, the Switch is significantly decreasing in sales. Price cut and/or Switch 2 is necessary to just maintain sales.

You have a kneejerk reaction to low sales during the slowest period of the year and act as if a price cut or even more powerful hardware is necessary to reinvigorate interest in Switch when a system seller is right around the corner.

That Yokai Watch 4 fell flat could be expected because retailers already promoted a special offer for the end of June last week, so it's not surprising that many people decided to postpone their Switch purchase for one week when it means to get 3k yen in eShop credit for the same spending.

If Super Mario Maker 2 boosts hardware to 50k units, Switch will match last year without a price cut or new hardware model. From there on out it's ten weeks that average between 45-50k units which isn't that high of a bar to reach with Switch's upcoming release schedule.

Famitsu 2018 vs. 2019

17k down yoy this week, resulting in a total deficit of 35k over the course of the last eight weeks. The YTD lead remains above 300k units.

Previously in this thread I said that the two most recent weeks are going to be down yoy by ~20k units combined, the actual result is ~28k. But that was before word got out about the Switch promotion that coincides with the launch of Super Mario Maker 2 (same price for the console, but with 3k yen in eShop credit).

Legend11 correctly predicted that GTA IV (360+PS3) would outsell SSBB. I was wrong.

3000 Yen is nothing for the average jap. It is almost neglectable for me already, and I am living in an area of Europe where the money per head is 2-3 times weaker than Japan.

Current PB on Secret of Mana remake : 2h27 (2nd)
Strongest worldwide achievement on TGM : 1st European S13 rank
WR on TGM alternative mode : Fastest ITEM S9 rank ( <-- Just got massacred by the 2nd most powerfull player in the world )
Current PB on Power Ranger (Game Gear) : 10min06 (World Record)

So?

Do you want to make a prediction that Switch will be down yoy next week?

No. Because of SMM2, this will obviously make a strong boost, but I think this will only give 2 weeks up yoy.

Then, Fire Emblem will give another 2 weeks up yoy.

Stores are promoting that deal, so it is something. The switch didn’t increase this week due to it, not because yokai watch and/ or the switch is undesirable. 150k isn’t a small opening

Sorry I have misscalculated, I thought that 5000 yen was 25-26€ but it is actually 40€ so this is something I would definitely wait for.

Is this because of last weeks' Famitsu numbers which are usually published around about now? I've been looking for them and haven't seen any yet.

Even with Yokai 4, the Switch is significantly decreasing in sales. Price cut and/or Switch 2 is necessary to just maintain sales.

YW4 couldn't shine since Nintendo announced a promo for the next week, so many postphoned the sales until this week. Or why do you think Switch had it's worst week when YW4 came out? Even with it's decline it would still have pushed sales up, not down.

@bolded: Seriously? I think you'll get some nasty surprise then next weeks.

The market is already preparing for a new switch. Regardless if Nintendo wants to keep pretending it's still a secret.

That is quite a statement in of itself.

"We've had declining sales for a snapshot of time, we must drastically cut the price or release a new system! Damn the fact titles that will push millions of consoles worldwide are coming in weeks, we must act now!"
