Indeed, we still need to know how much did Switch during 2018 first. The problem is that Nintendo doesn't give sold through numbers, so we'll need to compare shipments numbers when Nintendo and Sony realese their Q3 results at the end of the month. Sony tends to overship greatly during Q3, and Nintendo not su much, so we'll see what really happened and how we interpret the numbers.

Either way they both had amazing years and looks to be within a million.

2019 is the year the PS4 overtakes the Wii & PS1 and becomes the 2nd best selling home console of all time (DS+gameboy are handhelds).

Yeah.. . and in 2020 it ll probably do atleast 12m+ so it ends up being 120m+ when the PS5 launches.
Then it manages to sell another 10-15m through out its lifetime after the PS5 release,
and ends up somewhere around 130m-135m when its all said and done.

Not quite as impressive as the PS2, but still a really good showing.

You really cant expect much more than that. They have just come out with some really amazing exclusives over the years.

Yes.., impressive stuff from both Nintendo and Sony. So happy for what they've doing in recent years. Top of their game right now. I think it will be the first time in history with 2 home consoles from different companies selling more than 15M in the same year. That says a lot.

My own calculations gave me around 130M sold lifetime for PS4, and if you ask me, that's way more impressive than what PS2 did, because PS2 sold a lot cheaper than PS4 after 2003, even selling at 100$ at the end before PS3 launched. And if you count the profits from PS Plus, PS4 is probaly already the most sucessful PS console (profitwise) for Sony ever.

By the way, it was announced 876M software sold for PS4 too, so PS4 is on pace to reach 1500M sold in 3 or 4 more years....

Damn! I expected PS4 to go over 91m units worldwide by the end of 2018, but I did not expect for Spider-Man to sell 9 million in three months. It really is surprising.

PlayStation 4 is the console that keeps on giving.
