Forums - Gaming Discussion - Devil May Cry 5 is the Best Looking 60 fps game on consoles

Devil May Cry 5 is looking to be absolutely phenomenal as its gameplay is certainly going to be the best in the genre. But the technical prowess of the developers is unparalleled. Its a 60 fps game on PS4 and Xbox One, even the base consoles, and yet it looks like it would be a really good looking 30 fps game. Those special effects are phenomenal.

Resident Evil 7 engine is being used here. I think its easily among the best game engines on modern consoles. Unreal Engine 4 has failed miserably on current gen platforms and should best be used by PC exclusives. Really with Santa Monica engine, Naughty Dog engine, Ready at Dawn engine, Fox engine, Decima engine, Polyphony Digital engine, RAGE and Resident Evil engine the consoles are really being fully utilised. I love it when a game is made with pushing console hardware in mind.

Devil May Cry 5 is native 4K as well on Xbox One X. These native 4K games on One X really makes me want One X even though I don't even have a 4K TV, Microsoft has made a fantastic console.

DMC 5 is looking great. Wish they'd put the collectors edition on Best Buy though so I can use gamerclub.

Nah, DICE games.

Disagree, Battlefront II is still #1 in my book, with Doom Eternal poised to seize the throne later this year.

UE4 isn't a failure.
Many good-looking console games are using it: Ace Combat 7, Gears 4-5, Dragon Ball FighterZ, Soulcalibur VI, DQ XI, Tekken 7, Hellblade, Days Gone...

Even Square Enix replaced Luminous Engine with this.

Agreed, plus I'd add Spyro Reignited to the list.

Nope. Gran Turismo Sport is the best looking 60fps title this gen.

edit: UE4 a failure? By what metric?

Bet with Intrinsic:

The Switch will outsell 3DS (based on VGchartz numbers), according to me, while Intrinsic thinks the opposite will hold true. One month avatar control for the loser's avatar.

Continuing on with the direction of this thread: :) :).....I really like the look of Ratchet And Clank 2016 on the Pro. Might be my favorite looker overall this gen. Have not paid any attention to DMC 5 beyond the microtransaction backlash, but did just watch a video, and yes, it's quite lovely.

GTS is the most polished game at a locked 60 fps on base consoles. Between the 1080p resolution and overall graphics its at the top. Most other 60 fps games have a lower resolution and have frame drops. The only thing that comes close is Forza 7 which has some advantages over GTS like less noticeable pop in and the sharpness of its baked shadows at a distance.

Maybe DMC5 can become a contender, but it really needs a more stable 60 fps to compare. The demo shows its far from a locked 60 fps.

I came in here expecting to see videos and/or screenshots... a little disappointed lol, think you could maybe spruce up your OP and add some?

As for "UE4 has failed miserably", I'm sorry but I VERY strongly disagree, there's some ridiculously good looking games made on it, in a variety of different styles too, it's a great engine for sure!

Its a great looking game, it just doesn't have the performance to really called a 60 fps game. Especially on the base X1. It could improve in the final version but it won't be a locked 60 fps at 1080p.
