To be fair, while I might have usually agreed with this, the Switch's lead is probably bigger than is actually being reported in this chart. It doesn't look as significant as it probably is/was.

So it kind of makes sense why people are so impressed by the PS4 in that regard. The difference doesn't seem as great and it's also a very old console.

Please, not this. The console peaked just one year ago, we all know how console sales work.

It's way more impressive to see the Switch sell 1/10 of Wii U's LT sales in one week .

But why? Wii U sold like shit, you are just making up a random reason why it's more impressive.

I'm trying to give you an inch but you're taking a mile.

I agree with you, it's just also understandable why some people think the PS4's sales are also impressive. Most weeks that kind of attitude annoys me as well, but here it's kind of understandable. The PS4 is just a beast of longevity.

I think the battle is more so lifetime than it is week by week anyways, what will be more interesting is how much sales Switch can keep in year 4-6.

Because the Wii U was still a thing only 2 years ago, and the Switch isn't that different from the Wii U specs wise, Nintendo sells almost the same games as it did with the Wii U and still one is a huge failure and the other a huge success. And all happened in less than 2 years. There is still people over there who don't believe in the success of the Switch or minimise it. But it's really a blockbuster success.

It is more impressive for the Switch to sell way way more than it predecessor (it's like day and night) than the PS4 selling like most of PS consoles before it.

But Switch is also the successor to 3DS so comparing it exclusively to Wii U makes no sense at all.

Also PS4 is selling significantly more than its predecessor as well so your argument falls flat.

Because lord knows that Nintendo handhelds selling well in December is totally unexpected /s

(Yes, I know that the official numbers will show the Switch breaking some records - just like the PS4's numbers have shown before. That's the point. Both are impressive.)

The Switch isn't the successor to the 3DS, it is sold at the same time, while the Wii U is discontinued. New games are coming for the 3DS. And the Switch is sold at the same price as the Wii U and have the same library as the Wii U, not the 3DS. That's why it makes sense.

And for your comparison Wii U/Switch vs PS3/PS4, you must be joking. The PS4 didn't outsold the PS3 in 1 year, and didn't sold twice as many in less than 2 years. It actually got 5 years to the PS4 to outsell the PS3, close to the end of the generation. So that comparison makes no sense at all.

PS4 must not be the successor to PS3 then, I mean PS3 was still on the market for ~2 years after PS4 launched and was getting new games.

I'm not comparing Wii U/Switch to PS3/PS4, I'm comparing 3DS/Switch to PS3/PS4.

You are coming up with the most flimsy excuses for being upset about people being impressed with PS4.

I am not upset, people can say whatever they want to.

The Switch is killing it.
