Forums - Sales Discussion - Rumor: Switch may have outsold PS4 & XBOX 1 combined in December NPD

I find rhis hard to believe, especially considering the Smash bundle was available since November, but we'll see, if it is then DAMN at Nintendo's sales

With both ps4 and x1 dying and with almost 100m ps4 sold, a great bunch of gamers are picking up the swicth to see what it's got. Plus almost all big Nintendo franchises have already come out for siwtch (typing switch is a pain in the neck). It means that switch sales will peak very early, most likely in 2019 before losing sales rather quickly to ps5 and x2.

God bless You.

My Total Sales prediction for PS4 by the end of 2021: 110m+

When PS4 will hit 100m consoles sold: Before Christmas 2019

There were three ravens sat on a tree / They were as blacke as they might be / The one of them said to his mate, Where shall we our breakfast take?

Easy to believe:
1) Nintendo resealed probably their biggest game in history
2) most retailers had switch for $299 + $25 gift caes
3) $299 for a machine that started it 6th year

2 million plus for Nintendo Switch in the US is not hard to believe. Smash was the best selling Video game in the US the entire month of December by a lot. And Nintendo Switch was the best selling console on Amazon by a lot. Honestly, it would be harder to believe they sold under 2 million. They sold 1.4 million last December. We know that 3 million Smash sales were recorded in the US in the first 11 days. I would guess it ends up close to 5 million in the US alone for December. There were approximately 1.5 million preorders of Smash in the US. So there are a lot of people buying Switch for Smash.

Given that PS5 and X2 will be priced at or around $499 by the time they launch and Switch will probably have an $150 model by then you are probably wrong. If Switch has a Pro Model by then (which I assume they will) then Sony and Microsoft will really be in trouble unless they can somehow stack their launch lineup which traditionally hasn't been the case. I don't know exactly what Microsoft can even offer above the Xbox One X when 4K hasn't even hit mainstream yet (I assume it will be by 2020 though).

Even if they offer a superior product Similar to Switch in 2020. Nintendo will already have a 70 million system install base by then.

This sites numbers for December 8 are up and they look waaaaayyyyy off for America.

All insiders are pointing to Switch doing over double PS4 in December but this site has it only ~10% higher than PS4 during Smash week.

When the herd loses its way, the shepard must kill the bull that leads them astray.

Either way you look at this, you've got to give Nintendo credit for keeping up with demand of the Switch. I haven't seen any retailers run out of the system except maybe during its first month on the market. Considering the abysmal failure the WiiU was, it shows the confidence Nintendo had in the Switch and their foresightedness to allow for increased production if it were successful, unlike the Wii era. I'll be very curious, though, if they will set as ambitious of numbers for their projections for 2019 as they did for 2018. The fact that their numbers aren't in line with their very high projections for this year has been more of a story than their true success almost. Of course, maybe they'll double down after actually hitting that crazy target if December's sales are what we are seeing rumored here.

Very impressive if true!

Pocky Lover Boy!

looks like ps4 is doing much better than last year ( at least numbers for 8th dec ) so I doubt this would become true
