What are you talking about? People are speculating switch did 10-12mil with the last quarter and could very well achieve their goal. And it's massively up from last year's 1.5mil might even be 2.5mil+ in December. It's much better for switch this year and if true, could very well mean that switch reaches its goal

Ok. We are going to say 6m at December and 10m at this quarter. We have 15m then. So Nintendo needs 5m between January, February and March. As I said, pretty much difficult to rich its goal.

They could hit it if they have Aminal Crossing in early march, but personally, I sort of picture that game in july

I would said this quarter be around 11m, and January-March around 4m, and there you have 20m.

We have 1m in October and 3m in November. If you say 11m this quarter, that means they sold 7m just in December. How would you put the number all over the world?

Even 2m for Switch wouldn't be normal number, that would make best December for any platform this generation and around last 7 years. Also selling more than 2m for Switch goes very much in favour of Switch reaching objective this years fiscal year.

More than 2 million would be the highest December Console sale since December 2010. That was the last time anyone hit over 2 million in a December and that was Nintendo again with both the Wii & DS doing over 2 million each.

Anything over 1.7 million this month would be the highest monthly total sales this Generation.

We talking about shipped numbers:

-October around 1m shipped

-November only in Japan in US Switch sold 2m, so Europe and rest of world could be something like 1-1.5m, so we talking about 3-3.5m sold units, that would mean around 3.5-4m shipped

-December, Japan around 1m sold, US around 2-2.5m sold, Europe and rest of world 2.2.5m sold, that would put around 5-6m sold units in December, that would put around 5.5-6.5m shipped units

At end, talking about shipped units we talking some thing like 10-11.5m. So yeah 10m is like bare minimum that Nintendo will ship, so even if they ship low estimate of 10m in Q3 and 4m in Q4, they will be short only around 1m, and with so little difference they could easily little overship Q3 and Q4 in order to meat their goal.

Let's see, if this indeed turns true then we will have a lot of threads and discussion on it.

2m+ for Switch means:

1. Switch is the best-selling console in the USA in 2018.
2. Switch beats the PS4 in a sort of launch-aligned comparison (Switch 2018 vs. PS5 2015).
3. Switch beats 3DS and Wii U combined in a sort of launch-aligned comparison (Switch 2018 vs. 3DS 2012 and Wii U 2014) by a comfortable margin.
4. Switch may sneak into the range I originally expected it to be in 2018 (6-7m). Through November, Switch was at 3.85m.

This is important. Could a kind soul give us the actual numbers?

OT:  If true, Switch deserves it. It's a good system.

Interesting.

What happened for Black Friday Weekend etc? Did we get final concrete numbers yet?

That would be wild! I'll withhold making an honest guess, but I think this is unlikely (said as a Nintendo fan)...

The final race for first place in 2018 will be interesting to follow :)

It would not be surprising to see the switch finish first, logic the console did not even celebrate its 2 years and the PS4/XB1s are starting their sixth year.

Then do 2015 PS4 vs Switch 2018 for a fair comparison. I think the result will be the same. PS4 even had a promotion and price cut during that time lol.

That one exists already: http://gamrconnect.vgchartz.com/thread.php?id=235305&page=1#

And yeah, it looks like the Switch will snitch the first spot on the finish line

Last q4 switch sold 2.92mil. I would hope that switch is up year over year and we know super Mario Bros. Deluxe is coming in that frame and Daemon X machina. I'm thinking another game is coming as well because we've barely heard anything. In my mind the worst case scenario next quarter is 4mil. And if we take the roof if 12mil this quarter, that's more than enough. And 5mil is much more possible than you are estimating since Nintendo consoles always sell more in q4 than q2 and q1, sometimes even combined. All I'm saying is don't be shocked by them meeting their goal. It's much more within reach than you think
