Forums - Nintendo Discussion - To me, 2017 wasn't as amazing for the Switch looking back

2017 was great to me. 2018 was pretty decent, especially on the indie side. 2019 looks like its going to be monstrous though if all pans out.

I totally agree on 2019. I have my doubts we'll have the same number of peaks as 2017, but with never before seen (on Nintendo consoles) mainline Final Fantasy games, Pokemon, Animal Crossing, and a few strong niche titles like Fire Emblem, Metroid, and No More Heroes... along with the fact that devs have had over 3 years working with Switch kits (according to this article: https://gamerant.com/nintendo-nx-dev-kits-132/), we're in for a tsunami.

I describe myself as a little dose of toxic masculinity.

People always say if the next year works out but it never does. There's always delays.

Nintendo has managed to avoid delays pretty well so far for the most part, no reason to believe that they will start now. After actually getting Xenoblade 2 out in 2017 against all odds(at least in my eyes) i have full faith that they will release the games they have announced for 2019 this year

Xenoblade 2 + BotW + Mario Odyssey = games I'll never forget playing. I only own 4 switch games (those + Octopath)

Not all those games listed are dated for 2018 so when people make them a few games Inevitably don't make it.

But they still got it out when they said they would, and it was an excellent game.

Agree, but that is because it was made by Monolith Soft, i don't think any other studio can rush it like that and the outcome is still great

In fairness, you could say the same regarding the PS4's and Xbox One's first couple of years, which didn't have a lot of new stuff worth playing for the longest time and was also filled with so many ports/remasters.
