Probably 2017 since it had so many great releases.

Please excuse my (probally) poor grammar

2013. GTA V & The Last of Us.

Plus the launch of the PS4/Xbox One!

Bet Shiken that COD would outsell Battlefield in 2018. http://gamrconnect.vgchartz.com/post.php?id=8749702

The best years for from all of those are 2011, 2013, 2015, 2017. So all the odd years. Weird.

I'll give it to 2017 for the two GOATS (Botw and Odyssey)

Bet with Intrinsic:

The Switch will outsell 3DS (based on VGchartz numbers), according to me, while Intrinsic thinks the opposite will hold true. One month avatar control for the loser's avatar.

Breath of the Wild, Super Mario Odyssey, Splatoon 2, Hollow Knight, Metroid Samus Returns... and that's only including the ones I've played, never mind Persona 5, Nier Automata, Xenoblade Chronicles 2, Horizon Zero Dawn, Resident Evil 7 and more.

No-brainer if you ask me, I'd call it the best year ever in gaming.

The best year for gaming was 1987. That was the year the NES actually went nationwide in the US. If you were in the US and not in a huge city (like me), then that was the year that they released Super Mario, Zelda, Metroid, Kid Icarus, Punch Out, etc....

Anywho, the past 10 years haven't been too great in the grand scheme, but I'd have to pick 2017 for the release of the Switch and Breath of the Wild. I can understand why people would pick 2017 or 2018 as the best year, because the PS4/XB1/WiiU/3DS/Vita generation was a really terrible generation for gaming and the poll shows it. Good riddance. I am ready for the Switch to bring us back into a golden era for gaming.

2017 (The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, Horizon: Zero Dawn, Super Mario Odyssey, NieR: Automata, Persona 5, PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds, Assassin's Creed Origins, Divinity: Original Sin II, Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus, Resident Evil 7: Biohazard)

I think Nioh and Yakuza 0 were notable games that year as well.

And I'd probably say 2017, for some of the reasons stated.
So many amazing games, and I still have yet to play several of them, like Breath of the Wild, Mario, and Horizon.

This is very much GotY material too, don't forget it.

If this poll went back to 2007 it would have been close, but 2017 easily.

Love how everyone's saying 2017 (and rightfully so), yet the poll has 2018 in the lead. Makes me wonder if something's wrong with our front page polls... again.

I agree that 2017, 2013, and 2010 are among the best years but imo 2009 and 2011 were incredibly strong as well.

I'd have to find out what year had the most of my all time favorites (similar to what Bisa did) in order to be able to pick just one year.
