Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Best Nintendo console name

I think the best is...

NES 7 7.45%

Super NES 22 23.40%

Nintendo 64 8 8.51%

Gamecube 19 20.21%

Wii 12 12.77%

Switch 26 27.66%

Total:94

I would said NES (Nintendo Entertainment System). I also liked Nintendo 64 name and Nintendo Switch is also great name, I didnt like Wii and GameCube, while Wii U is by far worst name.

Also when people say "Super Nintendo" they need to know that official name is "Super Nintendo Entertainment System".

SNES is the best Nitnendo home console for its time, nintendo has ever done.

Gamecube is the best. And i always thought Famicom was kinda cool

Switch and Gamecube are both names I like.

I like both NES and SNES.

I appreciate the name Nintendo Entertainment System for the Marketing purpose of the time, that it wasn’t a game system but I think Super Nintendo Entertainment Sounds cooler lol.

So at the end of the day I’d say SNES is the best Name.

GameCube. It was to the point and reflected of the fact that it was a machine designed to play games, not all this other nonsense that consoles have become obsessed. Back to the pure days, I say! Onward hooo!

Gamecube. It's not as good as Playstation, but it's the best name Nintendo came up with. They should have kept the name: GC2, GC3, GC4.

God bless You.

My Total Sales prediction for PS4 by the end of 2021: 110m+

When PS4 will hit 100m consoles sold: Before Christmas 2019

Super Nintendo, very simple, reminds of heroes and even if little lame it's easy to remember.

I think the word 'Super' was pretty impactful in the 90s. You'd see it a lot. Especially for things aimed at children/teens.

It started well before the 90s.  We already had Superman (for decades) and the sequel to Mario Bros was Super Mario Bros.  There was also the Judy Blume book Superfudge, the follow up to her book Tales of a Fourth Grade Nothing.  So yeah, it was a simple choice to show that something was even better than what came before it.

Superfudge!!! That and Dear Mr. Henshaw were my favorite books as a kid!!!

I voted Switch. I think the name perfectly describes what it does. Whilst thinking about this, i realised i don't usually like the names Nintendo comes up with for their consoles. Idk why but for example, gamecube sounds a bit too "Kiddy".
