Well I don't have an era account, but there is a lot of interesting discussions going on in their thread. Like last night when they talked how Monster Hunter become one of the best selling games in the west this year, while Dragon Quest 11 flopped in the west. Admittedly wish I did had one just so I can throw my two cents in that topic since I came to the realization that Dragon Quest in the west is pretty similar to Star Wars in China right now.

Also, Dragon Quest XI should've gone with a simultaneous worldwide release. It did wonders for Monster Hunter World.
By the time DQ XI released in the West, the hype was gone and everyone interested had already seen the whole game on youtube/twitch/etc.

While the world wide release did help Monster Hunter, I am not sure if it would of done the same for Dragon's Quest. Yakuza 0 took almost 2 years to release in the west and through good wood of mouth, it manage to be the breakout title in the west for the series.
Dragon's Quest problem in the west might have with the lack of nostalgia for the brand that Japan has and of course Square's lack of marketing. Since I don't think it really has much to do with the actual games themselves since Persona 5 and Octopath Traveler prove that turn base JRPG's not named Pokemon can sell a million copies outside of Japan and the character is done by the most famous Manga artist of all time.
