Prob because there's really not that much to discuss. Nintendo dominating everyone in Japan and that's really only the noteworthy news. Not too many ways it can be repeated. So I guess that's why this thread has died down a bit. Next weeks thread should be more entertaining though.

But they've always been dominant throughout the history of these threads. Is everyone off drinking mulled wine? Or maybe busy on discord :)

Probably because this week had pretty the same result as last week (~280k). If it grows a lot next week, or a game over/underperforms, this thread will be more alive.

Bet with Teeqoz for 2 weeks of avatar and sig control that Super Mario Odyssey would ship more than 7m on its first 2 months. The game shipped 9.07m, so I won

This thread is very quiet this week, everyone must be over in the era one!

So amazon Japan. Smash and switch are king but ps4 is right up there at #5 and DQB2 at 7. I wonder will both have a decent week 51. I hope so.

PS4 might have 100k this week, great deal and some holiday momentum.

Hoping for DQB2 to top at least 100k for both SKUs.

Well I don't have an era account, but there is a lot of interesting discussions going on in their thread. Like last night when they talked how Monster Hunter become one of the best selling games in the west this year, while Dragon Quest 11 flopped in the west. Admittedly wish I did had one just so I can throw my two cents in that topic since I came to the realization that Dragon Quest in the west is pretty similar to Star Wars in China right now.

Also, Dragon Quest XI should've gone with a simultaneous worldwide release. It did wonders for Monster Hunter World.

By the time DQ XI released in the West, the hype was gone and everyone interested had already seen the whole game on youtube/twitch/etc.

Next week is the biggest one for the Switch, we will now if they make it to 20M.

While the world wide release did help Monster Hunter, I am not sure if it would of done the same for Dragon's Quest. Yakuza 0 took almost 2 years to release in the west and through good wood of mouth, it manage to be the breakout title in the west for the series.

Dragon's Quest problem in the west might have with the lack of nostalgia for the brand that Japan has and of course Square's lack of marketing. Since I don't think it really has much to do with the actual games themselves since Persona 5 and Octopath Traveler prove that turn base JRPG's not named Pokemon can sell a million copies outside of Japan and the character is done by the most famous Manga artist of all time.

How much has DQXI sold in the west?

Shouldn't DQB2 be looking to hit 200k on both ps4 and Switch?

I wonder will ps4 cross 100k. Could be one of the last times it ever does. Or one of the last chances to outsell XB1 lifetime in a week. I'm actually really looking forward to next week for ps4, switch and dqb2. Good Times.

We don't really know, but it was only like number 14 on the NPD when it release back in September and wasn't on the October or November list.

That would be amazing... but it's hardly happening. First game had  roughly 175k on vita on 130k. But hopefully it's about what the PS4 delivered the last time
