It'd be dope if they did.

Though I would take it a step further. Make the system fully backwards compatible, but also integrate the PS3 and PS4 storefronts into it. PS1 and PS2 titles that have HD versions (FF7, for example) should include the same Trophy Support as the updated version. This would include all physical versions, PS1 Classics(PS3/PSP/PSV) and PS2 Classics (PS3) receiving Trophy Support from their PS4 counterparts.

On top of that, several teams should be in charge of selecting previously physical-only titles to receive digital releases, all of which would be accompanied by Trophy Support as well.

They overestimated their fanbase.

I would say it was an underestimation of the fanbase.

That's honestly an awesome idea! Analogue and RetroUSB are doing very well with highly accurate HD clones right now, and a decent collection of PS1 games can be built on a budget if you aren't pick about what color the label is:

Never, Black Label is the only way to go!

that would have been twice as expensive to produce and have half as many sales. the PS1 classic could have worked if they just put actual effort into it. the game selection was lackluster, and could have easily been expanded to 30 games if they took the time to secure the rights. they also should not have used PAL roms and instead gotten the NTSC versions. then of course they should have either made their own proprietary emulator or just used the latest version of PCSX instead of an outdated one. and then gotten the dualshock controllers instead of the ones limited to just a D-pad. if they did all of that and made the entry level price maybe $79 instead of $99 it would have done amazingly well.

Haha I totally get that sentiment :) I only recently caved, but am glad that I did.
