Forums - Gaming Discussion - VGChartz Official Game of the Year 2018 - Vote Here!

Cast 5 votes including most anticipated. Played 5 games released in 2018, and of those, only 3 were available to vote for. I wonder how many people, without having ever played the games in the poll, vote based on some combination of expectation and, dare I say it, allegiance? How about requisite screen cap proof of experience with game, and submission of social security and pin numbers to help weed out the cheaters?

I can't vote for Tetris Effect in best original music score!

Added.

Thanks!

I now realize I have played zero rpgs and fps this year.

It was tpugh going between GoW and RDR2 but I choose GoW as I remember criticising it a lot less, albeit, it does attempt a lot less but it is wjat it is, those two games are beyond stellar it's almost a crime to be choosing between them. Astrobot and beat saber are surprisingly up there to, the fact that I'd have to take a step back and think about them among GoW and RDR2 says a lot to their benefit. Great year for games, at least if you're a VR owner.

I dare say GOW attempted more than RDR2 especially if you take into consideration what type of game the series was before. RDR2 is basically just RDR2. You could swap out kratos and call GOW something else entirely and n one will bat an eyelid.

Submited my votes.

Super Smash Bros Ultimate and God of War got most of my votes. My most anticipated game is Luigi's Mansion 3.

Bet with Teeqoz for 2 weeks of avatar and sig control that Super Mario Odyssey would ship more than 7m on its first 2 months. The game shipped 9.07m, so I won

I agree with this too. While RDR2 is bigger in scope, God of War is far more ambitious for reinventing the whole series and intruducing new mechanics and a new narrative style , while RDR2 just went with "more is better" and played safer (not saying this is a bad thing tho).

Dragon Quest XI deserves overall Game of the Year

Every best score list without Torna is wrong, but at least Octopath was there...

Wow, no inclusion of Bloodstained for most anticipated game of 2019??? Aww.

Anyway, God of War, God of War and GOD OF WAR for every category it was nominated in.

But my REAL favourite game of the year is Shadow of the Colossus if it was counted. It's just the greatest gaming experience of all-time!

Didn't play most of these games yet. Still seeing if I get any of them for Christmas. Had to leave most categories blank.

Wow I did not play a single new release in 2018. How the mighty have fallen. What's happened to me? I used to play so many games.

I did play Journey for the first time yesterday though. Took me about an hour. Let's just say I don't agree with the 2012 GOTY choice but then again I remember that year being horrible for games in general so big whoop.
