Just goes to show, Nintendo is gonna sell tons of Switchs and they don't need a Labo to do that (notice how there is zero mention in this PR on its sales while Nintendo cites several other games, all their traditional IP).

Didn't even think of LABO… but curious, isn't it?

Amazing Smash sales!
Last time Nintendo talked about Switch sales for the US, was on November 28th, where it reported 8.2M. Today, it's claiming 8.7M.
Is this good? I honestly can' t say.

Same time frame goes for Pokémon Let's Go, where it was at 1.5M and now sits at 2M.
Doesn't sound all that good to me, but maybe it's just me.

Smash is on pace of what i was expecting 4M+ units sold in December, so i'm not surprised, good results.

But why NPD is doing this marketing piece for Nintendo?? Why they say fastest console of the gen only when it benefits Switch??, They know that in a few months it will be PS4 turn for its aligned holiday season and it will become fastest console of the "gen" again in USA. And why they're calling Switch a console of the same generation as PS4 and XBO though?, what was Wii U then???

For the same reason you have bias for sony only vice versa

If you read the article, you would know that it's 8.7M at the end of the November NPD period, or December 1st.

And thus, Tbone's 25 million becomes reality.

We plebians should have known better than to doubt the great Tbone (not that I was one as I felt his optimism too)!

NPD arent marketing anything for Nintendo.

Nintendo is just using NPD data, and clearly states so. Microsoft and Sony are free to do that as well.

Well, i read something along the lines "according to The NPD Group, which tracks video game sales in the United States. From its launch in March 2017 through November 2018, Nintendo Switch has sold more than 8.7 million units, outpacing U.S. sales of all other current-generation systems at the same point in their life cycles." So is NPD who's saying Switch outpaced every other gen console. I don't remember giving an special annoucement for that with PS4 or XBO, they only said these kind of things on the monthly NPD news.

So, i don't understand why now they say something like this mid month and why they're calling Switch "current generation system". And the fact that they know the period of sales are not the same for Switch against PS4/XBO is not cited, so when in 3 months PS4 is still ahead of Switch, there will be no annoucemnt of Switch falling behind again, but this PR will remain in the conciousness of the people so people will think Switch is always ahead. If Nintendo was saying this it would be perfectly normal because is its best interest, but NPD should serve as impartial information of gaming sales, not for half truth news that only benfits one side....

This is from the monthly NPD news. Today is when NPD is scheduled to have its public release for November 2018.

Why i'm having bias for Sony?? Lol, the last thing i said in this site about PS4 was that PS4 was going to be my most disappointing performance of the holiday season....I know you are trying to say i'm an impartial Sony fanboy that hates Nintendo....., that's not true. But if you find a official NPD annoucement mid month in the last few years saying how good is doing PS4 in sales..., let me know about it.

And where is the rest of the monthly NPD news then?, why only have Nintendo related news?

I should had my mouth quiet. My rant was not against Nintendo here, it was against NPD and PR annoucements in general. Nintendo is doing phenomally and they deserve every recognition. But I'm against biased and bullshit PR's. And if NPD falls too to this habit i will be really pissed, that's all.

What? Nintendo isn't going to do the PR for Sony and Microsoft. This is how it always works: NPD gives the data to the companies early and lets them release a PR statement before the full public report is out. If Sony and Microsoft want to announce anything, they're free to do so. Otherwise, the public report is out this afternoon.
